Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (March 10, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: A homeowner was startled by an intruder who entered her home while she was inside on March 7 at 9:30 a.m. on Lord Cecil Drive in Owings. The unknown suspect fled after realizing someone was home. Sgt. Brian McCourt is continuing the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Unknown suspect(s) caused $600 in damage when they spray painted the tailgate of a Ford truck and a mailbox with black paint at a home on Smithville Drive in Dunkirk between 11:00 p.m. on March 7 and 6:15 the following morning. Dep. Mark Fitzgerald is handling the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Eight mailboxes that were clustered together on one rail were damaged between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on March 8 on Chaneyville Road in Owings. The damage is estimated at $500. Dep. Jason Dean will continue the investigation.

THEFT: Dep. Jason Lord responded to Tom's Auto Service on H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby for a theft report on March 9. The theft occurred between March 5 at 6:30 p.m. and March 9 at 6:30 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) stole grills, bumpers, hoods, wiper blades and radios from vehicles that had been parked at the business in the lot. Total value of the items stolen is over $2600. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Lord at 410-535-2800.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 9 at 9:22 a.m. Dep. Jason Lord responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Kings Road in St. Leonard. After obtaining consent to search, police located drug paraphernalia. Anthony R. Cesario, 18 of St. Leonard was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on a criminal citation.

THEFT, ILLEGAL DRUGS: DFC Marty McCarroll investigated a theft from the Dunkirk Walmart on March 9 at 10:15 a.m. after employees observed a suspect fill bags with merchandise and exit the store without paying. Police stopped the suspect vehicle on southbound Md. Rt. 4 at Ferry Landing Road and observed the vehicle to be full of Walmart merchandise. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected crack cocaine. McCarroll arrested Franklin L. James, 47 of Washington, D.C. and charged him with theft, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia and false statements to police.
