Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (March 7, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED: On March 7 at 1:09 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 7100 block of Bumpy Oak Road in Indian Head for the report of a motor vehicle which had crashed into the woods. The driver, Jarrard Elliott Queen, 41, of Indian Head, was transported to Civista Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Officers discovered Queen was wanted for several charges of failing to appear in court. When he was released from the hospital, officers arrested him and transported him to the Charles County Detention Center. Shortly thereafter, the owner of the vehicle involved in the crash reported it stolen. Officers determined Queen had stolen the vehicle before the crash and he was additionally charged with auto theft. He was also charged with driving with a suspended and revoked license. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer M. Bourgeois investigated.

ARMED ROBBERY: On March 6 at 10:37 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Dash In located at 7100 Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a man entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male wearing black clothing. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and has a thin build. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. G.
