St. Mary's County BCI Police Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 5, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) recently released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.

INDICTMENT: Deputy Shawn Moses served a Circuit Court Indictment on Mark Alan Henson, 44, of Lexington Park, for his part in a marijuana manufacturing operation. The indictment was a result of Vice Narcotics search and seizure warrant.

INDICTMENT: Deputy Michael Campbell arrested Kerwin DeAndre Ware, 32, of Leonardtown, on an open Grand Jury Indictment for Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. He was awaiting a Hearing in the Circuit Court. The indictment was a result of Vice Narcotics search and seizure warrant.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS: Deputy Shawn Moses served a Circuit Court Criminal Summons on Suspect George Thomas Young, 22, of Callaway, for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana. The charges stem from a search and seizure warrant that was served by vice narcotics detectives on a Lexington Park home. He is currently released pending an arraignment hearing in the Circuit Court.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS: A District Court criminal summons was served by a vice narcotics detective on Andrew Benedict Mattingly, 19, of Leonardtown, for possession of marijuana. Mattingly was charged after being stopped outside a Lexington Park home. He was found to be in possession of marijuana. He is released pending a preliminary hearing.

INDICTMENT: Patrol Deputy Shawn Cathcart arrested James DeShaun Bowman, 28, of Lexington Park, on an open St. Mary's County Grand Jury Indictment. The indictment was a result an investigation conducted by BCI Vice narcotics detectives. A search and seizure warrant was executed on Bowman's home and as a result a quantity of cocaine and supporting evidence was recovered to indicate intent to distribute. The indictment included charges for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. He is being held without bond pending an arraignment in the Circuit Court.

CONVICTED FELON W/HANDGUN: On February 25, 2008 Lt. Daniel D. Alioto observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red signal on Great Mills Road. A vehicle stop was conducted and upon making contact with the operator, Steven Edward Mouring, 29, of Upper Marlboro, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was detected. Patrol Deputies Corporal Julian Schwab and Deputy James Maguire arrived to assist. As Mouring exited the vehicle he began to run on foot. A chase ensued and Mouring was found to be armed with a handgun. A physical altercation began between Lt. Alioto and the Mouring. As both men were on the ground, Mouring threw the weapon and the physical confrontation continued. Deputy Maguire assisted in taking Mouring into custody. Corporal Schwab located and safeguarded the weapon. A search incident to arrest revealed a quantity of marijuana, related paraphernalia and ecstasy. A female passenger fled the vehicle and was not located. Mouring was charged with possession of CDS, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, resisting arrest and fleeing and eluding. He was released on $10,000 bail.
