MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 3, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT: On Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 8:32 pm, Kenneth Joseph Knott, 43, of Park Hall was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault. Tpr. C. Evans responded to the 20000 block of Manor Drive in Park Hall for the reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with Mr. Knott and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from his breath. During the course of his investigation it was determined that Mr. Knott assaulted the female complainant. Mr. Knott was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, February 26, 2008 at 5:30 am, Zachary Matthew Williams, 18, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. Fleetwood on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13295) for Failing to Appear in District Court in La Plata on February 14, 2008. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Williams was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 9:50 pm, Latisha Anise Corbin, 25, of Suitland was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-11920) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on January 19, 2006. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Ms. Corbin was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2:16 am, Joseph Parran Nelson, 27, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC R. Rezza for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Nelson was operating a gray Ford Explorer on south bound Route 235 in the area of North Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Nelson was also arrested for DUI. He was also found to be in possession of a baggie of marijuana and a metal CDS smoking device. Mr. Nelson was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for DUI processing and subsequently transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

BURGLARY: On Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 3:03 pm, TFC K. Lashley responded to the 45000 block of Burns Drive in Valley Lee for the reported Burglary. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) entered his garage and stole a 50cc Karuma ATV, blue in color valued at $900.00 and a child's full face blue helmet valued at $50.00. No other property was taken from the garage and the investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Monday, February 25, 2008 at 1:57 am, Jermaine Dwayne Davis, 26, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of Cocaine. Mr. Davis was operating a black Mercury Sable on north bound Route 235 in the area of Exploration Park Drive when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with Mr. Davis, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. Mr. Davis was subsequently arrested for DUI. Mr. Davis was found to be in possession of Cocaine and was charged accordingly and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

THEFT: On Monday, February 25, 2008 at 2:30 pm, TFC Grimes responded to the 23000 block of Three Notch Road in California for the reported Theft in Progress. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised two unknown male suspects entered the store and each stole a cellphone. The cellphones stolen were a Verizon LG VX9400, serial no. A00000037DA4A7, valued at $422.39 and a Verizon LG VX8800, serial no. A00000079EBAC9, valued at $440.95. Total loss was $863.34. The investigation continues.

THEFT: On Monday, February 25, 2008 at 5:00 pm, Tpr. B. McCartney responded to a reported Theft over $500 in the 28000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. Upon arrival contact was made with a male employee of Verizon Wireless who advised unknown suspect(s) stole three Copper Ground Circuits from the cell phone tower belonging to T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon Wireless. Each ground circuit was valued at $2,500.00 for a total loss of $7,500.00. The investigation continues.

BURGLARY: On Monday, February 25, 2008 at 5:30 pm, Tpr. C. Evans responded to the 23000 block of Esperanza Drive in Lexington Park for the reported Burglary. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) gained entry to his residence during the day while he was at work. There was no damage to the property nor was there anything stolen. During the course of the investigation it was determined that a neighbor's juvenile son was inside the residence. The juvenile was later located and charged with Burglary and released to his parents pending further action by Juvenile Services.

THEFT, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 12:00 pm, Daniel Thomas Hayden, 54, of Hollywood was arrested for Theft under $100.00 and possession of prescription medications not prescribed to him. Tpr. M. Adams was patrolling Route 235 in the Hollywood area when he ran a routine NCIC/MVA check on the registration plates on vehicle Mr. Hayden was operating. NCIC revealed the tags were stolen July 2007. MVA check revealed Mr. Hayden's driving privileges are suspended. Mr. Hayden was placed under arrest for possession of the stolen tags. A search incident to the arrest revealed he was also in possession of prescription medications not prescribed to him. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 3:30 pm, Tpr. C. Evans attempted to initiate a traffic stop on south bound Route 235, south of Route 245 on a red Dodge Intrepid as the driver, later identified as Jeffrey Neil Shade, 23, of Hollywood, was not restrained by a seat belt. Tpr. C. Evans observed the occupants threw several plastic bags from the vehicle as it was traveling south on Route 235. The vehicle was stopped on a dirt road off Sandy Bottom Road in Hollywood. Contact was made with the driver and the two passengers who were identified as Marcus Tyrek Chase, 22, of Mechanicsville and Ricardo Antoine Edgston, 23, of Hollywood. A strong odor of Marijuana was detected on the occupants and was also coming from inside the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, the items thrown from the vehicle on Route 235 were located and identified as two plastic bags of Marijuana and one bag of Cocaine. Mr. Shade, Mr. Chase and Mr. Edgston were arrested for possession of Cocaine and possession of Marijuana. All three were taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 8:10 am, Patrick Wayne Fenwick, 47, of Park Hall was arrested by TFC M. Laney on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13297) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on February 26, 2008. The original charge on the warrant was Driving While Suspended. Mr. Fenwick was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 12:00 pm, Michael J. Spears, 24, of California was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13287) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on February 15, 2008. The original charge was possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Spears was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
