St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 25, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT & DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On February 23, 2008 at approximately 4:15 pm, Corporal Edward Evans responded to the area of Morris Drive and Thomas Road in Lexington Park, Maryland for a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival Cpl. Evans observed one of the parties involved in the altercation, Earl Linwood Kent, 39 of Lexington Park, Maryland, carrying a metal club, crossing a yard of a residence and approaching another subject. Earl Kent raised the metal club over his head in a threatening manner towards other subject. Cpl. Evans ordered Earl Kent to drop the metal club and Earl Kent complied. Two other individuals in the yard observed Earl Kent actions. Earl Kent was arrested and charged with second degree assault and disorderly conduct.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 23, 2008 at approximately 2:34 am, Joshua Emil Geisbert, 24 of Charlotte Hall, Maryland was stopped by SDFC Joseph L. Somerville for exceeding the posted speed limit. Joshua Geisbert was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to the arrest revealed a baggie containing suspected marijuana and two smoking devices containing suspected marijuana. Joshua Geisbert was charged with DUI, controlled dangerous substance possession and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 24, 2007 at approximately 12:51 am Deputy Kevin Meyers observed a suspicious vehicle, occupied by two individuals, parked in the cul-de-sac of Gambier Place in Lexington Park, Maryland. Deputy Meyers approached to vehicle to investigate. The operator of the vehicle identified as Keyon James Chaplin, 19 of Lexington Park, Maryland opened the operator's door. Deputy Meyers detected a moderate odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle was identified 17 year old male from Lexington Park, Maryland. Deputy Meyers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana along with controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Keyon James Chaplin and the juvenile were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

DRUG DISTRIBUTION: Detectives from the Vice Narcotics Division continued an investigation into the alleged drug distribution by Calverio "40" Somerville, age 19, from his Lexington Park Apartment Complex. Several weeks ago Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant on his home and located marijuana and related distribution material. After a State's Attorney's Office review, the case was presented to the Grand Jury and an indictment for felony drug charges was returned.

Information was received that Somerville was in fact still distributing from his residence. On February 22nd, 2008 Detectives again executed a search and seizure warrant on his Spring Valley Apartment. Somerville was located inside. He was arrested on the open grand jury indictment without incident. Located inside the home was several hundred dollars worth of marijuana packaged for sale, a digital scale and almost $600.00 in cash.

Somerville was being held on the open indictment and the additional felony charges for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
