LA PLATA, Md. (Feb. 14, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On Feb. 12 at 2:36 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer E. Weaver attempted to stop a Nissan Quest on Strauss Avenue in Indian Head for a traffic violation but the driver refused to stop. The driver fled to East Poplar Lane where he exited the vehicle. Officer Weaver quickly apprehended the driver, George Melvin Gray, 54, of Indian Head and a subsequent search revealed Gray was in possession of 21 bags of crack cocaine and more than $3,000 in cash. Gray was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Feb. 11 at 4:44 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs Cpl. R. Padgett stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Blair Road in Indian Head and found the driver, Quinton Clarence Stith, 22, of Indian Head to be in possession of marijuana. Stith was charged with possession of marijuana and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
