LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 7, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
JUVENILES CHARGED IN DRUG DEAL: On January 6 at 12:22 p.m., School officials at Chopticon High School observed two male juveniles (15 years old and 16 years old) engaged in a drug transaction. Both were detained and later placed under arrest by Deputy First Class Sarah Lacey. The 15-year-old was charged with CDS Possession- Marijuana. The 16-year-old was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Distribution of CDS-marijuana. Both were released to their parents pending further action by School Officials and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
ASSAULT w/BB PISTOL IN SCHOOL: On January 6 at 12:15 p.m., a 14-year-old student at Margaret Brent Middle School brought an "Air Soft" BB pistol into school and shot another student (female, 13 years old) in the leg while the two were in the cafeteria. D.A.R.E. Officer Deputy First Class Angela Muller responded and placed the suspect under arrest. The juvenile was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Disruption of School Activities, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (concealed), and Possession of a Deadly Weapon of School Property. The juvenile was released to a parent pending further action by School Authorities and the Department of Juvenile Justice. The victim's injury required no immediate medical attention.
COUPLE CHARGED IN DAY TIME BURGLARY: On February 3, just after 11:00 a.m., in the Leonardtown Center, witnesses observed William Andrew Krell, 22, of Charlotte Hall, breaking into a vehicle parked in the parking lot. The vehicle owner confronted the burglar and stood behind the suspect's vehicle in an attempt to prevent him from leaving the area. Krell reportedly put his vehicle in gear and drove off, striking the victim in the leg. Deputy Joe Labreck and Cpl. Harold Young responded to the area, observed the vehicle and conducted a felony stop. The suspect and passenger Muneit Marilyn O'Brien, 18, of Charlotte Hall, were arrested.
BCI detectives conducted a follow up investigation resulting in the service of two search warrants. Several items of evidence linking the suspects to others similar crimes in St. Mary's and other jurisdictions were recovered. Krell was charged with Assault 1st Degree, Theft Scheme Over $500, Theft over $500 Malicious Destruction of Property Rogue and Vagabond and Possession of Burglar Tools. O'Brien was charged with one count of Theft Over $500.00. More charges are expected.
ILLEGAL DRUG DEALING: Detectives from the St. Mary's County BCI Vice Narcotics Division identified Patrick Wayne "PJ" Fenwick, 22, of Lexington Park, as a distributor of marijuana. Fenwick was selling marijuana in and around a Lexington Park apartment complex where he resided. A search and seizure warrant was executed on the apartment and more than a dozen individually packaged baggies of marijuana were recovered along with a digital scale, small amount of cash, and a handgun. Fenwick was arrested and charged and additional charges are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.
