LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (Feb. 6, 2008)—Alan Dillingham, newly elected president of the Board of Library Trustees, announced yesterday that Daniel Burris, of Leonardtown, and Carole Ann Romary, of California, have been appointed to the Board of Library Trustees by the St. Mary's County Board of Commissioners.
Burris is proprietor of Burris' Olde Towne Insurance and president of the Leonardtown Business Association. He is the current chairman of Leonardtown Recreation, Inc.—the arm of Leonardtown developing the Tudor Hall Conference Center/Hotel and Gary Player, McIntosh Run Golf Course.
Romary's background includes 27 years of civil service as a contracting officer on various aircraft and engine programs including the Navy's Tomahawk Missile and Harpoon Missile programs. She is an active member and officer of the Women's Club of St. Mary's and was responsible for initiation of the club's partnership with the library. She currently delivers library books to shut-ins and is a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
"We are very lucky to have community leaders of this caliber interested in working for their library," said Library Director Kathleen Reif in a statement. "Both are avid library supporters."
The Board also elected the following individuals as the new officers for 2008 at the January meeting:
President: Alan Dillingham
Vice President: Janice Briscoe
Treasurer: Joan Springer
The Board meets the third Tuesday of the month at the Leonardtown Library.
