MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 4, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 12:04 pm, Blakeney Davis Burgess, 24, of Leonardtown was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Burgess was operating a blue Chevrolet S-10 on Route 5 in Park Hall when he was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with Mr. Burgess and an odor of burnt Marijuana and alcohol were emitting from his breath, person and vehicle. Mr. Burgess was found to be in possession of Marijuana and was charged accordingly. Mr. Burgess performed the field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was not charged with DUI. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 11:02 am, Charles Ronald Patton, Jr., 20, of Piney Point was arrested by TFC J. Linger for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Patton was operating a gold Acura Legend when he was stopped on Route 249 in Valley Lee for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, a check of MVA revealed that Mr. Patton's driving privileges were suspended in Maryland. Mr. Patton was arrested for driving on a suspended license. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Patton was in possession of CDS paraphernalia, a plastic grinder with Marijuana residue. Mr. Patton was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 1:22 pm, Jeremy Michael Carr, 20, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. B. McCartney for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Carr was operating a red Lincoln Continental on Mechanicsville Road in the area of the Moose Lodge when he was stopped for not being restrained by a seat belt. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Carr was found to be in possession of a baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Carr was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 8:36 pm, Jennifer Lynn Morgan, 44, of Marbury was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of prescription medications not prescribed to her. Ms. Morgan was a passenger in a blue Ford Ranger when they were stopped for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Ms. Morgan was a found to be in possession of an unlabeled pill bottle which contained Hydrocodone pills. Ms. Morgan was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 9:19 pm, Dinah Marie Bonds, 48, of Great Mills was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for possession of Cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Ms. Bonds was operating a red Honda Accord on Buck Hewitt Road in Lexington Park when she was stopped for speeding. During the course of the traffic stop, Ms. Bonds was found to be in possession of Cocaine and a CDS smoking device. Ms. Bonds was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, February 1, 2008 at 12:12 am, Ryder Cioffi Henry, 22, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC L. Nims for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Henry was operating a blue Volkswagen Jetta when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit on Route 5 in Park Hall. During the course of the traffic stop, a clear bag of Marijuana was observed in plain view on the driver's side floor. Mr. Henry was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed a multi colored glass CDS smoking device and a yellow aluminum can which also contained trace amounts of Marijuana. Mr. Henry was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained and charged accordingly pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 7:46 am, Tpr. M. Adams responded to the 24000 block of Horse Shoe Road in Clements for the reported trespassing complaint. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised two male juveniles, ages 13 and 15 were seen going into several of his out buildings and barns. Contact was made with the juveniles and the 13 year old was found to be in possession of cellophane bag of marijuana and a CDS smoking device. The 13 year old was charged on a Criminal Citation with trespassing, possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The 15 year old was charged with trespassing. Both juveniles were processed at the Leonardtown Barracks and later released to their parents pending further action by Juvenile Services.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 5:31 pm, Pamela Louise Johnson, 21, of Leonardtown was arrested by Tpr. B. McCartney for possession of Cocaine. Ms. Johnson was a passenger in a red Chevrolet Cavalier when it was stopped because Ms. Johnson was not restrained by the seat belt. A routine check through NCIC revealed Ms. Johnson was wanted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff' Department for Failing to Appear on Bad Checks charges. A small bag of Cocaine was found on Ms. Johnson's person. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending service of the warrant and a bond review.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 12:30 am, Taron Delaney Wilkes, 20, of Park Hall was arrested by TFC M. Moore for possession of Marijuana and DUI. Mr. Wilkes was operating a gray Chevrolet Malibu on south bound Route 5 in the area of Cooks Liquors when TFC Moore attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding. Mr. Wilkes turned into Garrett Trailer Park where he fled on foot. After a short foot chase, Mr. Wilkes was apprehended and taken into custody. A strong odor of alcohol was emitting from his breath. A routine check of MVA revealed Mr. Wilkes driver's license was suspended. Mr. Wilkes was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center for processing where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 3:25 pm, Patricia Dawn Merrill, 45, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. Grimes on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13234) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on January 9, 2008. Original charge was Desertion of a Minor Child. Ms. Merrill also had two outstanding Bench Warrants for Possession of CDS not Marijuana and Violation of a Protective Order through the State Police in Prince Frederick. Ms. Merrill was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she is being held pending a bond review and transfer to the Calvert County Detention Center in Prince Frederick.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, February 1, 2008 at 4:15 pm, Larry West Ward, Jr., 38, of Prince Frederick was arrested by Tpr. B. McCartney on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-12019) for Violation of Probation for DWI which was issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on March 9, 2006. Mr. Ward was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, February 1, 2008 at 10:21 pm, James M. Nelson, 32, of Chaptico was arrested by TFC J. Linger on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13257) for Violation of Probation for DWI which was issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on January 24, 2008. Mr. Nelson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 7:50 am, Francis Michael Spears, 44, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC M. Laney on an outstanding Arrest Warrant (T3-013265) for Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle. Mr. Spears was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.
