MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 28, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 12:50 pm, Ryan Andrew Murray, 22 of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC M. Laney for possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Murray was operating a teal Ford Escort on south bound Route 235 in the area of Morganza Turner Road in Mechanicsville when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop Mr. Murray was found to be in possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was charged on a Criminal Citation and given a Preliminary Inquiry court date of February 8, 2008. Mr. Murray was released at the scene.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 2:02 pm, TFC K. Shughart and Tpr. E. Page responded to a reported Malicious Destruction of Property in the 26000 block of Myrtle Point Road in California. Contact was made with the male complainant, of California, who advised he was driving his blue Ford F250 truck when two male juveniles, ages 15 and 11 threw tangerines from the wood line and struck his struck. The juveniles were located at their residence and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property and Reckless Endangerment. They were released to their parents pending further action by Juvenile Services.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 3:46 pm, Joseph Alton Bailey, 3rd, 41, of Loveville and Calvin Aloysius Edelen Jr., 34, of Hollywood were arrested by Tpr. B. McCartney for possession of Cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Bailey was operating a brown Chevrolet Cavalier on Route 245 in Leonardtown when he was stopped because the passenger, Mr. Edelen was not restrained by his seat belt. During the course of the traffic stop, a small bag of Cocaine and one homemade CDS smoking device were found in the vehicle. Both Mr. Bailey and Mr. Edelen were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were detained pending a bond review.

OUTSTANDING WARRANT, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 10:19 pm, Andrew Dwight Rambler, 41, of La Plata was arrested by TFC M. Grimes for possession of CDS. Mr. Rambler was operating a green Ford Ranger when he was stopped on Route 5 at Maypole Road in Leonardtown for exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine check of NCIC revealed Mr. Rambler had an outstanding warrant through the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Rambler was taken into custody for the warrant. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Rambler was in possession of a glass CDS smoking device with burnt Cocaine residue. Mr. Rambler was charged with possession of CDS and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review and release to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 5:10 pm, Kevin Antionne Makle, 24, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. Linger for driving on a suspended license and possession of Marijuana. Mr. Makle was operating his green Ford Explorer on Yowaiski Mill Road when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop a routine check through MVA revealed Mr. Makle's driver's license was suspended and he was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle incident to the arrest revealed a partially burnt marijuana cigar in the vehicle. Mr. Makle was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, January 25, 2008 at 12:25 am, Rudolph Melvin Thompson, 69, of Ridge and Davie Elwood Jones, 55, of Lexington Park were arrested by TFC E. Evans for possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Thompson was operating a white Buick Regal on north bound Route 5 south of Route 246 in Lexington Park when he was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane. During the course of the traffic stop, a metal CDS smoking device was found in the vehicle. Both Mr. Thompson and Mr. Jones was issued a Criminal Citation and issued a Preliminary Inquiry court date of February 8, 2008 and released at the scene.

THEFT FROM TARGET: On Friday, January 25, 2008 at 5:24 pm, Troy David Yates, 42, of St. Inigoes was arrested by TFC M. Grimes for Theft Under $500.00. A broadcast was made for the theft which occurred at the Target Store. A white male driving a brown Ford truck had stolen a 17" Trutech TV/DVD combo and some clothing. The vehicle was later observed on Route 246 in Lexington Park when it was stopped. TFC Grimes observed the TV/DVD and the clothing on the front seat of the truck. Mr. Yates was taken into custody and charged with Theft Under $500.00. Mr. Yates was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, January 25, 2008 at 8:14 pm, Charles Ronald Patton, Jr., 20, of Piney Point was arrested by TFC J. Linger for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Patton was operating a gold Acura Legend on Route 235 in the area of Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood when he was stopped for driving on a suspended license. During the course of the traffic stop Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. Mr. Patton was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 4:23 pm, a 17 year old male juvenile of North Beach was arrested by TFC M. Moore for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. The juvenile was operating a burgundy Saturn XL when he was stopped at Route 235 and Route 6 in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver and an odor of Marijuana was detected in the vehicle. The juvenile was found to be in possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia and taken into custody. He was transported to the Leonardtown Barracks for processing. The juvenile was processed and later released to his mother pending further action by Juvenile Services.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 7:40 pm, Francis Xavier Thomas, Jr., 24, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC M. Moore for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Thomas was operating a gray Oldsmobile Calias when he was stopped on south bound Route 235 in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Thomas was found to be in possession of plastic bags of Marijuana and a CDS smoking device. Mr. Thomas was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

VEHICLE THEFT: On Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 11:48 am, TFC K. Lashley responded to the Leonardtown Barracks for the reported Theft of Motor Vehicle. Contact was made with the male complainant who advised his 1988 burgundy Toyota Tercell, Maryland registration. The vehicle was taken by Francis Michael Spears, 44, of Hollywood from the complainant's residence in Hollywood at approximately 7:00 am that morning. The whereabouts of the son and vehicle are unknown and the investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 9:38 pm, Nathan Thomas Mills, 19, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC P. Trossbach for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Mills was operating a red Nissan Exterra on Mervell Dean Road when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Mr. Mills and an odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Mills was found to be in possession of a baggie of Marijuana and a multi colored glass CDS smoking device. Mr. Mills was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 1:30 pm, Deshawn Anthony Carey, 19, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. Laney on an outstanding Arrest Warrant issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on December 19, 2007. The original charge was Assault 2nd Degree. Mr. Carey was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 8:20 pm, Donnie Lee Godbolt, Jr., 26, of Sanford, NC was arrested by Troopers at Route 5 at Cedarville Road north of Waldorf. Mr. Godbolt was relayed back to Leonardtown where he was served an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-12916) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on June 28, 2007. The original charge was driving on suspended license. Mr. Godbolt was detained in the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, January 25, 2008 at 7:03 am, Donnie Lee Godbolt, Jr., 26, of Sanford, NC was served with an Arrest Warrant for being a Fugitive from Other Area by TFC M. Moore. Mr. Godbolt was wanted by Fairfax County Virginia Police Department for Violation of Probation on the original charge of Uttering and Forgery. Mr. Godbolt was detained at the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending his extradition to Fairfax, Virginia.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, January 25, 2008 at 9:55 pm, Robert Ira Gordon, 42, of Bel Alton was arrested by TFC K. Shughart on an outstanding Circuit Court warrant for Violation of Probation. The original charge was Burglary. Mr. Gordon was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention where he was detained pending a bond review.
