LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 25, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On Jan. 25 at 4:50 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to an intrusion alarm at Allen’s Factory Outlet located at 8262 Leonardtown Road in Hughesville. Investigation revealed suspect(s) pushed an air-conditioning unit through a back window into the office and entered the building. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but the suspect(s) were not located. A representative of the store responded and advised nothing appeared to have been stolen. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Walter investigated.

BURGLARY: On Jan. 25 at 2:06 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officer C. Walden was patrolling the Streamview neighborhood in Waldorf when she observed several vehicles on Alyssa Lane with shattered windows. Officers searched the area and observed a green Honda Accord turning onto Streamview Drive from Alyssa Lane. A lookout for the Accord had been broadcast earlier that night for suspicious activity. When officers stopped the vehicle they discovered the three occupants were in possession of marijuana and burglar’s tools. The owners of the vehicles that had been broken into advised nothing had been stolen except one victim’s radio plate. All the occupants of the Accord were arrested. Simeon Tarven Bowen, 18, of Upper Marlboro, Antoine Thomas Gonzalez, 21, of Hyattsville and Manuel Carlos Gonzalez, 19, of Port Tobacco were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, rogue and vagabond, possession of burglar tools and destruction of property valued at less than $500. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED: On Jan. 25 at 12:49 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officer E. Weaver stopped a Chevrolet pickup truck on Indian Head Highway near Cedar Lane in Indian Head. Officer Weaver discovered the driver was intoxicated and in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Bridgett Verna Grimes, 31, of La Plata was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED: On Jan. 24 at 2:25 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officer E. Weaver stopped a Hyundai Accent on Summit Court near Strauss Avenue in Indian Head for a traffic violation. Officer Weaver discovered the driver, Lindon Urban Theodile, 40, of Indian Head, had a suspended license. Further investigation revealed Theodile was in possession of crack cocaine. Theodile was arrested without incident and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and driving with a suspended license. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Jan. 24 at 8:42 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Hughesville Sunoco located at 8144 Old Leonardtown Road in Hughesville for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a male suspect entered the store armed with a shotgun or a rifle and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect smashed the driver’s side window of his vehicle in order to enter it and was last seen driving south on Old Leonardtown Road. Officers searched the area but the suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and a mask. ARMED ROBBERY: On Jan. 23 at 9:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a 44-year-old Waldorf man was attempting to deliver food to a residence in the 2700 block of Abermarle Place in Waldorf when a male suspect approached his vehicle, brandished a handgun and demanded money and the food. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene toward Berry Road. Further investigation revealed the call to the restaurant appeared to have been made from a residence in the 10100 block of Further Lane in Waldorf but no one at the residence placed the order. Officers discovered the phone lines to a few of the residences on that road had been tampered with and the suspect possibly could have used that connection to make the call. The suspect is described as a medium-complexioned black male approximately 20 years old with a thin build. He is 5 feet 6 inches tall and has a narrow face with a pointed chin. He was wearing all black clothing and a black knit cap. ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Jan. 23 at 9:33 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 6900 block of Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed Kelly Bernard Brown, 27, of Bryans Road approached a 30-year-old La Plata man, threatened to strike him in the head with a bottle and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled. Officers searched the area and located Brown, who was still holding a bottle. Brown was arrested and charged with armed robbery and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer S. Miller investigated.

SCHOOL BUS CRASH: On Jan 23. at 4:18 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded Middletown Road near McDaniel Road for the report of a school bus crash. Investigation revealed a Charles County school bus was making a left turn off McDaniel Road onto Middletown Road when a Jeep Liberty driven by Darin Patrick Feustel, 21, of La Plata struck its left front side. Feustel was traveling north on Middletown Road and had failed to stop at a red light. Three students were on the bus at the time of the crash. No one was injured. Officer C. Gass is investigating.

THEFT SCHEME: On Jan. 22 at 11:56 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Cpl. C. Strafella responded to the Rite Aide Pharmacy located at 2285 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed between 3:24 p.m. Jan. 4 and 11:12 a.m. Jan. 20, two Rite Aide employees who worked as cashiers rang up multiple American Express gift cards between $25 and $100, activated the cards and entered invalid coupon numbers to reduce their cost. The two then paid the remaining balance with cash or other stolen gift cards. The two employees stole more than $2,200 worth of gift cards. Jamarr Lamont Tann, 19, and Lawrence Robert Huggins, 22, both of Accokeek, were arrested on Jan. 22 and charged with theft and theft scheme valued at more than $500. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Cpl. C. Strafella investigated.
