LETTER TO THE EDITOR
The 2007 Calvert Shop with a Cop program was an overwhelming success, thanks to the support and generosity of Calvert County citizens and local businesses. We were able to partner 60 of the county’s neediest children with officers from the Calvert County Sheriff’s F.O.P., Maryland State Police and Maryland Department of Natural Resources police. With your donations and support, Christmas presents were purchased for each child and their family. Thanks to Wal-Mart for helping with this project, which is sponsored by the Optimist Clubs of Calvert. After the shopping was done, the officers brought the children to the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department for breakfast, provided by Company 7 Alarmers, while numerous citizens volunteered to wrap the children’s purchases.
On behalf of the Calvert Shop with a Cop program, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers, donors, businesses and organizations that make this possible. Without your support, this doesn’t happen. Thank you so much for your support.
