LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 23, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department released the following incident and arrest reports.
BURGLARY: Sometime between 11 p.m. Jan. 16 and 5 a.m. Jan. 17, suspect(s) cut a hole in the fence behind Verizon located at 36 Industrial Park Drive in Waldorf. The suspect(s) drove a vehicle through the hole in the fence and stole 50 spools of copper wiring. The suspect(s) also stole copper wiring from several vehicles parked in the lot. SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: The Charles County Sheriffs Office is investigating suspicious activity that occurred on Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. at Arthur Middleton Elementary School located at 1109 Copley Avenue in Waldorf. A 9-year-old boy was approached by a man in the front parking lot of the school who offered the boy money to get into his car. The boy walked away and later told his mother. The man is white, has a thin build and is approximately 27 years old. He has dirty-brown hair and was wearing a black North Face jacket and blue jeans. There is no vehicle description. BURGLARY: On Jan. 15 at 10:10 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 4700 block of Lancaster Circle in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed a male suspect forced entry through the back door of the residence. A woman was upstairs, heard the noise and when the suspect entered the home, the woman ran out the front door. The suspect exited the home through the front door. Nothing was stolen. The suspect is described as a male wearing a black jacket, possibly leather with a gray hood and light-colored jeans.
