LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 12, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department released the following incident and arrest reports.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING CHILD: On January 10, just after 8:00 p.m., Deputy Cathcart was called to a residence in Leonardtown, Maryland for a domestic disturbance. Subsequent investigation revealed the suspect, Mark Andrew Alvey Sr., 42, of Leonardtown, Maryland was intoxicated and assaulted the fourteen year old victim by grabbing her arms and violently shaking her. Alvey was placed under arrest and charged with Child Abuse and Assault 2nd Degree. He was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
MAN ARRESTED FOR HINDERING INVESTIGATION: On January 9, officers from the Sheriff Office responded to the area of Dee Court Great Mills, Maryland to assist EMS and investigate a possible assault. While attempting to gain information, the suspect, David Logan Scopin, 22, of Great Mills, repeatedly interrupted the officers by yelling profanities. Scopin was advised by officers to stop which he failed to do. He was arrested by Deputy Chimko-Fahey and charged with Hindering and transported to Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
