Sunday Hours to be Restored at County's Public Libraries

LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 9, 2008)—At the request of some Charles County residents, the Board of County Commissioners has agreed to restore Sunday hours at all of the Public Library branches in Charles County beginning January 27, 2008. The new Sunday hours of operation will be from 1-5 pm.

The decision was the result of a long range planning survey, conducted by the Charles County Public Library in September and October of 2007, to gauge customer satisfaction with library services. The survey showed that 79.3% of the survey respondents were pleased with the current operating hours (Monday-Thursday, 9 am-8 pm; Friday, 1-5 pm; and Saturday, 9 am-5 pm).

A more detailed portion of the survey indicated that some customers requested the restoration of Sunday hours.

According to Charles County Public Library Director, Emily Ferrin, the Sunday operations will be full service. “I think that we are proactively responding to the needs of our customers,” said Ferrin.
