MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 8, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 5:28 am, Damon Jerome Estep, 32, of California was arrested for driving on a suspended license and Jerry Jerome Estep, 38, of California was arrested for possession of Cocaine. TFC E. Evans initiated a traffic stop on a green Dodge Intrepid on Route 246, in the area of Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, a routine MVA check revealed Damon Estep's driving privileges were suspended. Contact was made with the passenger, Jerry Jerome Estep who was found to be in possession of Cocaine. Both subjects were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11:45 am, Donald Lewis Bryan, Sr., 50, of Lexington Park was arrested for driving on a suspended license and possession of Cocaine. Mr. Bryan was operating a white Buick Skylark on Route 246, in the area of Tri Community Way in Lexington Park when he was stopped for an equipment violation. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Bryan's driving privileges were suspended and he was placed under arrest. A search incident to the arrest revealed he was in possession of Cocaine. He was then transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 8:54 am, TFC M. Grimes responded to a reported disturbance in the 45000 block of Dee Court in Great Mills. Upon arrival contact was made with the female complainant who advised her sons were involved in an Assault. Contact was then made with her juvenile son who advised his 22 year old brother, David Logan Scopin took his marijuana and fled the residence. A short time later, David Scopin was contacted in the area of Midway Drive and Pegg Road by TFC M. Grimes. Mr. Scopin was found to be in possession of a bag of Marijuana for which he was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review. Juvenile Services will be notified and a petition be filed charging the juvenile according.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 8:15 pm, TFC T. Quade and Tpr. N. Gresko were patrolling on Macarthur Blvd when they observed a blue Cadillac Deville in the rear of Shoppers Food Warehouse in San Souci Plaza. Contact was made with Shelton Devon John, 20, of Bryans Road and a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from his person. During the course of the investigation, Mr. Johnson was found to be in possession of two bags of marijuana on his person. He was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was detained pending a bond review.

ASSAULT: On Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 10:53 pm, TFC G. White responded to a reported disturbance in the 41000 block of Norris Circle in Leonardtown. Upon arrival contact was made with the suspect, Jerome Antonio Gladden, 26, of Leonardtown who was extremely uncooperative on the scene. Contact was also made with the female complainant, who advised she was assaulted by Mr. Gladden Mr. Gladden was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault. He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, REVOKED LICENSE: On Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 2:28 am, TFC G. White initiated a traffic stop at Route 235 and Route 4 in California on a white Lincoln Town Car for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Ricky Allen Mattingly, 37, of Leonardtown. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. Mr. Mattingly was arrested for DUI. A routine MVA check revealed his driving privileges were revoked. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Mattingly was in possession of a marijuana cigarette. Mr. Mattingly was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond hearing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 11:04 am, TFC J. Linger initiated a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Ventura van on Route 238 in Chaptico. The driver, Randall Wayne Myres, 44, of Chaptico was not restrained by his seat belt. During the course of the traffic stop, a routine check of MVA revealed the registration plates were suspended. Mr. Myres found to be in possession of a baggie of Cocaine and a CDS metal smoking device. Mr. Myres was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 8:12 pm, Derrick Anthony Ewing, 22, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13126) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on October 30, 2007. The original charge was driving on a suspended license. Mr. Ewing was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 1:35 pm, Melvin Earl Stewart, 35, of New Carrollton was arrested by TFC M. Grimes on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-12928) for Violation of Probation. The original charge was Theft under $500 and Failing to Pay Fines in District Court in Leonardtown. Mr. Stewart was served the warrant at the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond hearing.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, January 4, 2008 at 12:30 am, Darisha Rochelle Mackall, 20, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC K. Shughart on an outstanding Arrest Warrant (T3-13011) for Malicious Destruction of Property under $500.00. She was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 12:45 am, Duane Robert Western, 46, of Broomes Island was arrested by TFC G. White on an outstanding Arrest Warrant (T3-1226) which was issued by the District Court in Calvert County on December 31, 2007. The original charges were two counts of Assault 2nd Degree. Mr. Western was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
