LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 7, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
BURGLARY: Sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 4, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 12200 block of Wendy Lane in Waldorf and stole a metal lock box containing the victims personal documents. BURGLARY: On Jan. 4 at 4:33 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Taylor Electric located at 2915 Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the report of a theft in progress. A citizen reported seeing two suspects in the parking lot breaking into work vans and provided descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the suspects had cut a lock in half, entered a fenced-in area and shattered the window of a vehicle parked there. The suspects stole five rolls of copper wire and an electric drill with a charger before fleeing the scene prior to officers arrival.
After a lookout was broadcast, Cpl. M. Clark saw the vehicle traveling on Route 301 near Mattawoman Drive in Waldorf and stopped it. Officers identified the occupants and found the stolen items in the car. The driver, Lindsay Paige Miller, 25, of Manassas, Va., and the passenger, Joseph Wayne Shortt, 31, of Fairfax, Va., were arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary, theft valued at more than $500, property destruction valued at less than $500 and possession of burglar tools. Miller was also charged with driving on a suspended out of state license. Miller and Shortt were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer A. Upshaw investigated.
