Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Jan. 3, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: A victim on E Street in Chesapeake Beach reported to Dep. Kevin Hall that unknown suspect(s) stole a package that had been delivered to her house on December 17. The package was delivered and left on her front step. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Hall at 410-535-2800.

CDS VIOLATION: After attempting a traffic stop, DFC Eric Basham arrested Veronica L. Pratt, 51, of Churchton on December 18 at 2:43 p.m. after a vehicle chase that began on C Street in Chesapeake Beach, continued on Md. Rt. 260 westbound, onto Boyd's Turn Road, ending on Fairhaven Road after the vehicle struck a telephone pole. The two occupants of the car, Pratt and another female, exited the car and ran into the woods where police took them into custody. Pratt was charged with numerous traffic violations and possession of cocaine and heroin. The other female was not charged.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Michael Mudd responded to the Comfort Inn Hotel on Lore Road in Solomons on December 18 at 6:44 p.m. Hotel staff advised that they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms. After investigating the complaint, Dep. Mudd arrested the occupant of the room, Robert C. Lesane, 23 of Baltimore, and charged him with possession of marijuana.

DOP: Dep. Richard Weems responded to a home on Grays Road in Port Republic on December 19 for a destruction of property complaint. The victim advised that unknown suspect(s) had struck the driver's side rear passenger door of her Chevy Tahoe with a pink colored paint ball sometime that day. There was no permanent damage to the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Weems at 410-535-2800.

THEFT: DFC Peter Aurich responded to the Prince Frederick Safeway on December 20 at 11:00 a.m. for the report of a theft. The manager advised that a woman was seen loading groceries she had not paid for into her vehicle and driving southbound on Md. Rt. 4. The manager provided the vehicle description and tag number and police responded to the suspect's home. The suspect, later identified as Tiana M. Kemp, 42 of Lusby, was observed in the driveway unloading over $80 worth of groceries. Kemp was charged with theft on an adult citation.

ASSAULT, DOP, CDS VIOLATION: Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Anthony R. Cesario, 21 of St. Leonard, on December 22 around midnight after they were called to a home on Southern Pine Lane in Port Republic for an assault call. After speaking with the victims, Dep. Mark Fitzgerald learned that Cesario had been at the home and argued with one of the victims, striking him with his fist then kicking a window and breaking it. Cesario then got into his vehicle and left the scene, striking the victims' mailbox. DFC Todd Smith observed the suspect's vehicle on Sixes Road. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed before finally stopping on Sixes Road near Md. Rt. 4. Cesario was placed under arrest for assault and destruction of property. A search of his vehicle incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana. He was also charged with possession of marijuana.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Elvis Carter conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick on December 27 at 2:00 p.m. The driver, a 15-year-old male from Huntingtown, was found to be driving without a license. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected percocet pills. The juvenile was charged on a youth report with driving without a license and possession of a controlled dangerous substance and released to a parent.

CDS VIOLATION: Two seventeen year old males, one from Sykesville and one from Marriottsville, were each charged with possession of marijuana on a youth report and released to a parent on December 28 after Cpl. Anthony Moschetto conducted a traffic stop on their vehicle at about 2:58 p.m. Cpl. Moschetto observed a Ford Mustang traveling northbound on Md. Rt. 4 in Lusby at speeds of 92 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone. After initiating a traffic stop, Cpl. Moschetto found suspected marijuana and alcohol in the vehicle. The 17-year-old Sykesville youth was also charged with possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age and speeding.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: DFC David Gatton responded to a home on St. Leonard Road on December 30 for an attempted burglary call. The victim advised that unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry to the home at around 3:00 in the morning, causing about $15 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Gatton at 410-535-2800.

DOP: Numerous victims in the Dunkirk area called to report damage to property on December 31 in the overnight hours. The homes on McCracken Drive, Fox Hunt Court, Welchpoole Court, Howes Road, Lancer Ct., Lexington Drive, Rivershore Drive and King Drive are located on streets running off of Lyons Creek Road in Dunkirk. Unknown suspect(s) drove over lawns, ripped up mailboxes and broke windows. The total in damage is estimated at about $850. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep.
