LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 28, 2007) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department released the following incident and arrest reports.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 26 at 1:10 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers were conducting patrols when they discovered suspect(s) had pried open the back door of Jellybeans Daycare located at 12108 Charles Street in La Plata. A representative from the daycare responded and determined nothing appeared to have been stolen. ROBBERY: On Dec. 21 at 11:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Verizon Wireless located at 2915 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a male suspect forced his way through the back door of the store as an employee was walking out. The suspect brandished a weapon, forced employees into a back room and ordered the manager to open the safe. The manager complied and the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but the suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and a dark ski mask. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-609-6515 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Additionally, Verizon Wireless is offering a $9,000 reward for any information.
