MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 7, 2007) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2:38 pm, TFC T. Quade responded to a reported Malicious Destruction of Property in the 35000 block of Army Navy Drive in Mechanicsville. TFC Quade made contact with the male complainant who advised he was traveling along Aviation Yacht Club Road, east of Sycamore Drive when he observed six black male juveniles walking along the roadside. As he approached the juveniles he observed three of them walk across the road. As he passed the juveniles he heard something strike the passenger side of his red Ford F150. When he arrived at his residence he observed the damage to the truck. Attempts to locate the juveniles throughout the neighborhood drew negative results and the investigation continues.

ALLEGED ASSAULT: On Monday, November 26, 2007 at 1:04 am, TFC K. Lashley responded to the WAWA on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for a reported Assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female victim, of California whose clothes were ripped and tattered. The female victim advised she was assaulted at a residence in the 21000 block of Winding Way in Lexington Park. Contact was later made with the male suspect, of Mechanicsville. No arrests were made at the scene. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 1:10 pm, Tpr. J. Pilkerton responded to a reported Theft from Motor Vehicle in the 44000 block of Beechwood Court in California. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) broke the passenger side window of his green Chevrolet S-10 truck. The suspect(s) took 15 music CD's valued at $300.00, a pair of Polk GNC124 speakers valued at $200.00 and a silver and black Pioneer AD300 AM/FM/CD Stereo valued at $100.00. Investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 4:46 pm, Marvin Rayfield Chase, 40, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC E. Evans for possession of Cocaine. Mr. Chase was a passenger in a red Plymouth Breeze on Great Mills Road in the area of Pacific Drive in Lexington Park when the vehicle was stopped because Mr. Chase was not restrained by his seat belt. During the course of the traffic stop, a NCIC check was made on the operator and Mr. Chase which revealed Mr. Chase had an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13139) for Failing to Appear in District Court for CDS possession charges. Mr. Chase was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Chase was in possession of Cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Chase was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond hearing.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On Friday, November 30, 2007 at 10:48 am, TPr. B. McCartney responded to the 24000 block of Horseshoe Road in Clements for a reported Theft from Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant of Clements. He advised he went hunting on November 29, 2007 and when he returned that day placed his Winchester Model 1300 shotgun in the bed of his Ford Ranger truck at 1:00 pm. The shotgun had a black scope and a camouflaged sling. He went to retrieve the gun at approximately 4:00 pm on November 29, 2007 when he discovered it missing. Neighborhood checks were conducted and the investigation is continuing.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, November 30, 2007 at 10:17 am, Agnes Iva Clarke, 40, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. Linger for possession of Cocaine and possession of a CDS smoking device. Ms. Clarke was a passenger in a blue Lexus when the vehicle was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit on Laurel Grove Road in Mechanicsville. A NCIC check of Ms. Clarke revealed she had an outstanding warrant through the Sheriff's Office in Calvert County. Ms. Clarke was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained on the possession of Cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia charges. A detainer was filed by the Calvert County Sheriff's Department pending her release.

ASSAULT: On Friday, November 30, 2007 at 4:24 pm, Tpr. J. Pilkerton responded to the 20000 block of Camp Cosoma Road in Leonardtown for a reported Domestic Assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female victim who had been struck in the mouth. She advised she was involved in a verbal altercation in her car at Route 5 and Route 4 in Leonardtown. She further advised Sean Mario Goins, 26, of Lexington Park hit her in the mouth. He exited the vehicle and began walking home. Mr. Goins was later located walking on Route 5, south of Leonardtown. He was taken into custody and was charged with 2nd Degree Domestic Assault. Mr. Goins was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, NO LICENSE: On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 4:43 pm, TFC T. Quade initiated a traffic stop on northbound Route 235, north of Hermanville Road in Lexington Park on a gold GMC Yukon for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, who was a 15-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile did not have a driver's license and was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed that he was also in possession of a small bag of Marijuana. He was transported to the Leonardtown Barracks where he was charged with possession of Marijuana and driving without a license. He was later released to his mother pending further action by Juvenile Service.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, DEADLY WEAPON, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 7:52 pm, Louis Leon Hurt, Jr., 36, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC R. Rezza for possession of a concealed deadly weapon and possession of Marijuana. Mr. Hurt was operating a gold Buick Regal when he was stopped on Route 5 at Baptist Church Road in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Hurt was found to be driving on a suspended license and he was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed that he was in possession of a concealed deadly weapon, switch blade knife, and a small plastic bag of Marijuana. Mr. Hurt was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 9:32 pm, Derek Michael Kohler , 18, of Frederick was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Kohler was operating a blue Ford Ranger when he was stopped on Willows Road in the area of Harvard Lane in Lexington Park for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Mr. Kohler and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A partially burnt Marijuana cigarette was observed in a cup on the front floor board. Mr. Kohler was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 1:05 pm, James Thomas Pankake, 25, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. Linger for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Pankake was operating a white Mercury Grand Marquis when he was stopped at Route 234 and Route 238 in Chaptico for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, TFC Linger observed in plain view some Marijuana on the passenger side floor board. Mr. Pankake was placed under arrest and a search of the vehicle incident to the arrest revealed a small zip lock bag of Marijuana in the vehicle and a CDS smoking device was found in the trunk. Mr. Pankake was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond hearing.

ASSAULT: On Monday, December 3, 2007 at 8:16 pm, Joshua Ralph Morgan, 30, of Leonardtown was arrested for Burglary and Assault by TFC Lashley. During the course of the investigation it was revealed that Mr. Morgan broke into the male victim's residence in 41000 block of Fenwick Street in Leonardtown. Once in the residence he assaulted the victim and then left the residence. Mr. Morgan was later found to the rear of the residence where he was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, December 3, 2007 at 1:45 pm, Charles Rodger Wathen, 27, of Leonardtown was arrested by TFC J. Fleetwood for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on November 9, 2007. The original charge was multiple counts Theft Scheme and Theft Over $500. Mr. Wathen was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 9:30 am, Antonio Warren Gantt, 40, St. Leonard was arrested by TFC A. Malaspina on two (2) outstanding Circuit Court True Bill Indictments. The first Indictment (T3-13158) was issued for Robbery and the second Indictment (T3-13159) was issued for Armed Robbery. Mr. Gantt was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being detained pending a bond hearing.
