Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Dec. 4, 2007) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: Unknown suspect(s) entered Mellomar Golf Course on Scaggs Road in Owings overnight between November 23 and November 24 and took cash and caused $100 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Michael Naecker at 410-535-2800.

ASSAULT: Police were called to Neptune's Restaurant in North Beach on November 29 at 12:56 a.m. for a fight in progress. Upon arrival, Dep. Brianne Gray found that two men had been fighting and both had signs of slight injuries but refused treatment. Dep. Gray subsequently arrested James C. Bruce, 23 of Mechanicsville, for second degree assault, disorderly conduct and disorderly intoxication.

THEFT: Dep. Jason Dean responded to a home on St. Leonard Road in St. Leonard for a theft report. The victim reported that between 10:00 p.m. on November 26 and 7:00 a.m. on November 27, unknown suspect(s) entered the yard and stole 2 inflatable Christmas yard decorations. One is an inflatable train set valued at $150 and the other is an inflatable Nativity scene valued at $75. Please contact Dep. Dean at 410-535-2800 if you have any information regarding the theft.

THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) stole $1300 worth of copper wiring and caused $250 in damage at a Verizon facility on Sixes Road in Prince Frederick between November 25 at 4:00 p.m. and the 27th at 7:00 a.m. Dep. Jason Dean will continue the investigation.

CDS VIOLATION: Cpl. Anthony Moschetto responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Md. Rt. 4 and the Fox Run Shopping Center in Prince Frederick on November 29 at 8:12 p.m. The driver of a 2006 Ford Focus, later identified as William Grantham, 20 of Callaway, struck the rear end of a 2003 Ford pick up truck, there were no injuries. Moschetto observed that Grantham appeared to be intoxicated and he subsequently failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence. A search incident to arrest revealed marijuana and Grantham was charged with possession of marijuana.

DOP: A black plastic mailbox valued at $50 was destroyed in front of a home on Palisades Drive in Dunkirk between November 28 and 29. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Seth Mitchell at 410-535-2800.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Police responded three separate times to two homes on White Sands Drive and Spruce Drive in Lusby for the report of a fight between the same two people on November 30. The first call was received at 12:12 p.m. Units from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Spruce Drive and spoke with one of the two men involved who stated that he had gotten into a verbal argument with the other man over a landscaping job they were to have completed together. The man, later identified as Jeremy M. Culligan, 26 of Lusby, was subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct the third time units had to respond to the area for complaints of a fight.

THEFT: An inflatable 8 ½ foot Christmas Grinch valued at $50 was stolen from a side yard of a home on F Street in Chesapeake Beach on November 30 between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. If you have any information, please contact Dep. Kevin Hall at 410-535-3723.

DOP: Dep. Justin Livingston responded to a home on Palisades Drive in Dunkirk on December 2 at 20 after midnight for a destruction of property call. The victim advised that unknown suspect(s) had broken out the front and rear windshields of his 2007 Chrysler van causing $1000 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Livingston at 410-535-2800.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Edwin Bradley conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on December 2 at 6:50 a.m. at Md. Rt. 4 and Pardoe Road in Lusby. The driver, later identified as Derrick S. Sherbert, 28 of Lusby, was found to be in possession of marijuana and was charged accordingly.
