Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 4, 2007) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Nov. 30 at 6:45 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence on Chinaberry Lane in Indian Head for the report of an attempted armed robbery. Investigation revealed a 53-year-old woman was sitting outside her residence when a male suspect approached her, held a metal object to her head and attempted to rob her. The suspect then fled the scene toward McWilliams Road. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a short black male with a slim build. He was wearing a ski mask, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with a white, glow-in-the-dark emblem on it and dark-colored pants. The suspect did not steal anything and the victim was not injured. DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Nov. 29 at 6:40 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers approached a group of teenagers on Brightwell Court in Waldorf who were shouting profanities, refusing to quiet down and causing a crowd of about 30 onlookers to gather. One 17-year-old Waldorf boy ran but Officer J. Dodge pursued him and returned him to the scene. Officers attempted to arrest the teens for disorderly conduct but the one who initially fled began resisting arrest. After a brief struggle, officers took him into custody. He was charged as a juvenile with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and was released to his mother. Another 17-year-old Waldorf boy was charged as a juvenile with disorderly conduct and released to his mother. Michael Anthony Toye, 18, of Waldorf was also charged with disorderly conduct. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer C. Caldwell investigated.
