Calvert Police on Lookout for Possible Child Abductors

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (November 20, 2007)—Police in Calvert County are on the lookout for two men who reportedly tried to offer candy to several children on Blue Sky Court in Ownings. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, November 15.

A nine-year-old girl told police that she had been playing in front of a home on the street earlier that day when an older model gray passenger vehicle, possibly a dented Toyota Camry, approached the children. The girl said that a single male operator offered them candy. The male suspect is reported to have tan colored skin and be about 25 years old.

Two other children told police that there were two men inside the vehicle, both white, and that the vehicle was a tan, older model two-door Honda Accord.

The children told police they declined the offer of candy and the car left the area but returned shortly thereafter with the unidentified man again offering them candy. The children said no and ran into a nearby home.

Cpl. Glenn Libby of the Calvert Investigative Team and Sgt. Larry Titus, the Maryland State Police Resource Officer, were advised of the incident.

Police say there will be increased police presence in the area because of the incident.
