Vehicle Burns in Waldorf, Cause Under Investigation


WALDORF, Md. (November 18, 2007)—A 2006 Nissan Altima was destroyed by fire early this morning causing $10,000 in damages. The fire occurred at 5:30 a.m. on the 2000 block of Vine Hill Court in Waldorf.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor.

It took four fireman from Waldorf approximately 5 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall.

Several other cars have been torched in Waldorf in recent months. On Oct 12, a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle near Bannister Circle & Ferguson Court, was burned. On Oct. 14, a 1989 Chevrolet Pick-up Truck on Country Lane, was set on fire. On April 7, someone set fire to the interior passenger compartment of a 1994 Dodge Caravan on Bannister Circle, Underwood Court.

Deputy State Fire Marshals charged two local youths in connection with the burning of an auto on Sunday, February 18, 2007. Authorities say the boys had poured and lit an ignitable liquid into a 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix that was being stored next to an outbuilding in the 5100 block of Running Deer Place .
