ANNAPOLIS (November 15, 2007)—On Monday, Nov. 5, at 4:20 a.m., the Maryland Natural Resources Police charged William Francis Wilkins, 20, of Charlotte Hall, Claude Daniel Caltrider, 43, of Dryfork, W. Va., and Gary Daniel Caltrider, 20, of Annandale, Va. with multiple hunting violations near Charlotte Hall.
The incident started at 2:36 a.m. when a St. Marys County deputy noticed blood dripping from the rear door of the van the three men occupied. The deputy made contact with the three as they were dragging an 11-point antlered deer across the lawn of a residence on Triangle Drive.
NRP was called to the scene and charged all three men with casting rays of artificial light on fields or woodland while having a weapon in possession capable of killing deer, hunting at nighttime, hunting deer with a firearm during closed season, and using a rifle to hunt deer in a county restricted to shotgun only.
A court date of Dec. 7 has been scheduled for the three men in St. Marys County District Court.
