GREAT MILLS, Md. (November 7, 2007)—On Monday, fourteen students at Great Mill's High School were arrested after several fights broke out. Thirteen juveniles and one adult were arrested. All are students at Great Mill's High School and have been charged with various charges ranging from assault to assault on a police officer. All were released to a parent or guardian.
The adult student, Shaquetta Nelson, age 18, was charged with disruption of school activities and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
A deputy assigned to Great Mill's High School as a High School Resource Officer, was notified of a fight involving two juveniles in the main hallway just before lunch. As a result of this fight, several other fights were initiated by other students in other areas of the school.
Additional Sheriff's deputies and Maryland State Police Troopers were called to the school and were able to bring the situation under control.
