LA PLATA, Md. (November 5, 2007) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
VEHICLE CRASH: On Nov. 3 at 8:48 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to St. Charles Parkway near Northgate Place in Waldorf for the report of a vehicle crash. Investigation revealed a 17-year-old Waldorf boy was driving north on St. Charles Parkway approaching the turn for Route 5 when he lost control of his vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to Prince Georges Hospital Center by a Maryland State Police helicopter and was in serious condition. The victim was wearing his seatbelt and was the only occupant of the vehicle. Officer R. Williams of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
SHOOTING: On Nov. 3 at 5:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the parking lot of Gallery Place Apartments in the 3000 block of Gallery Place in Waldorf for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 17-year-old Waldorf boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was flown to Prince Georges Hospital Center and was treated for his injuries. Officers identified the apartment where the shooting occurred and investigation revealed a party had been occurring in the apartment around the time of the shooting. The identity of the suspect and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. BURGLARY: On Nov. 2 at 2:27 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 11400 block of Breezy Point Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed suspect(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door, ransacked the residence and stole jewelry, CDs and cash. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but the suspect(s) were not located. BURGLARY: On Nov. 2 at 10:54 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Barksdale Avenue in Waldorf for a citizens report of a burglary in progress. The suspects fled the scene prior to the officers arrival. Investigation revealed suspect(s) forced entry into the residence through a rear sliding glass door and stole numerous electronics including flat-screen televisions, an Xbox video game system and a DVD player. A large suitcase was also stolen. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but the suspects were not located. The suspects are described as black males. One suspect is approximately 20 years old, bald and has a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket and dark jeans. The other suspect was wearing a maroon coat.
