St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (October 25, 2007) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department released the following incident and arrest reports.

REVOKED LICENSE, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 10/19/07 Deputy Boyer responded to the area of Cadillac Jacks on Great Mills Road to assist with crowd control. Deputy Boyer contacted occupants of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot and identified them. The driver of the vehicle, Joseph Manning Milburn Jr., 30, Great Mills, Maryland was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle on a revoked license. The passenger, Jermaine Lynell Young, 26, of Lexington Park, Maryland was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana. Both were transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing with the District Court Commissioner.

OPEN WARRANTS, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 10/19/07 Deputy Vezzosi and DFC Whipkey conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hickory Hills California, Maryland for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, Shawn Maurice Dickens, 25, of Great Mills, Maryland was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana. The passenger, Dwain Vincent Travers, 29, no fixed address, was arrested on three open warrants for Failure to Appear in Court and also charged with Possession of Marijuana.

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On 10/21/07 Deputy Campbell responded to a shooting complaint at a residence in the area of New Market Turned Rd. Mechanicsville, Maryland. Investigation revealed several people at the residence reported the suspect became involved in a verbal altercation with a person at the residence. The suspect, identified as Michael Stephen Lilly, 31, of Mechanicsville, Maryland retrieved a shot gun from inside the residence and fired it endangering several people at the residence. The suspect was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment. He was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

DWI, FLEEING SCENE OF ACCIDENT: 10/20/07 Deputy T. Reese responded to a single vehicle accident at Route 235 and Route 4 California, Maryland. Witnesses at the accident scene advised the driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, fled the area after the accident. Senior Deputy First Class Timothy Butler located the driver, Joseph Thomas Pisani, 25, Patuxent River, Maryland, nearby. He was arrested and charged with Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Driving While Impaired, Driving Under the Influence Per Se, and Negligent Driving. He was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

DUI: 10/23/07 the Emergency Communications Center broadcast a lookout for a vehicle reportedly operating erratically. Deputy J. Kirkner spotted the vehicle on Route 5 in Great Mills and observed the driver failing to stay right of center. Deputy Kirkner conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, George Cecil Haynes 68, of Mechanicsville, Maryland. A strong odor of alcohol was detected on the driver and after Haynes was unable to successfully complete standard field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Driving Under the Influence Per Se. He was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District court Commissioner.

OUTSTANDING WARRANTS, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On 10/22/07 Deputy First Class Keith Moritz responded to a residence on Liberty Street in Lexington Park in an attempt to locate Corey LaKeith Bowman, 28, of Lexington Park, who was wanted on several warrants. DFC Moritz observed Bowman inside the residence and attempted to place him under arrest. Bowman walked away from DFC Moritz and failed to comply with several orders to place his hands behind his back. DFC Moritz utilized his X-26 taser to subdue Bowman. Bowman was taken into custody without further incident. Bowman was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. He was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana. Bowman was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

DUI, DWI, NO LICENSE: On 10/22/07 Deputy First Class Moritz observed a vehicle crossing the center line on Route 246 in area of St. Mary's Square in Lexington Park. A traffic stop was conducted and a strong odor of alcohol was detected on the driver, Gomez Moran Francisco, 28, of Lexington Park. Due to a language barrier, a translator was requested to respond. PFC Angel Candelaria of the Department of Defense Police arrived and acted as a translator. Francisco was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving While Impaired and Driving without a License and transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
