MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (October 25, 2007) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

SHOPLIFTING: On Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 2:57 pm, Cynthia Elizabeth Young, 37, of Cobb Island was arrested for Theft Under $100.00. Tpr. C. Evans responded to the McKays Foodland in Charlotte Hall for a reported female adult shoplifter in custody. Ms. Young was taken into custody and a wanted check revealed she had an open Bench Warrant through the Charles County Sheriff's Department for Child Support. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention where she was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, October, 12, 2007 at 6:00 pm, James Edward Young, 43, of Avenue was arrested by TFC J. Linger for possession of Cocaine, possession of Marijuana and possession of a CDS smoking device. Mr. Young was a passenger in a gray Ford Crown Victoria which was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit on Route 242 in Avenue. Mr. Young was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, October 12, 2007, Daniel Robert Cohen, 33, of Baltimore was arrested by TFC M. Grimes for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS smoking device. Mr. Cohen was stopped in a gold Mazda Millennium on Indian Bridge Road in the area of Onion Field Lane in California for exceeding the posted speed limit. A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Cohen was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

TRESPASSING: On Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 4:27 pm, TFC K. Shughart responded to a reported disturbance in the 14000 block of Point Lookout Road in St. Inigoes. Upon arrival contact was made with the female victim, who advised Nancy Louise Pratt, 47, and Steven Mark Pratt, 22, both of Ridge were trespassing on her property and refused to leave. The suspects were later located at their residence and interviewed. They were issued Uniform Criminal Citations for Trespassing and released at their residence in Ridge.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 6:24 pm, Kyle Adam Vallandingham, 18, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC L. Nims for possession of marijuana. Mr. Vallandingham was operating a white Honda Accord on Route 235 in Hollywood when he was stopped for not being restrained by his seatbelt. A strong odor of marijuana was emanating from within the vehicle. Mr. Vallandingham was taken in to custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ASSAULT: On Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 3:15 am, TFC E. Evans responded to the 25000 block of Allston Lane in Hollywood for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the parties involved and interviewed. As a result of the investigation, Jason Ryan Coleman, 31, of Hollywood was arrested for Assault 2nd Degree. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond hearing.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, CONCEALED WEAPON: On Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 5:10 pm, TFC M. Laney initiated a traffic stop on a blue Lincoln Mark VIII for an equipment violation on Route 5 in the area of Leonardtown High School. Contact was made with the driver, Tercel Javon Blackiston, 19, of Leonardtown. A MVA check revealed Mr. Blackiston's driving privileges are suspended in Maryland. Mr. Blackiston was arrested for Driving While Suspended. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Blackiston was in possession of brass knuckles. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon and driving on a suspended license. He was held at the detention center pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 9:00 pm, Robert Allan Hayden, 22, of Great Mills was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of Marijuana. Mr. Hayden was operating a purple Dodge truck when he was stopped on Route 246 in Lexington Park for not being restrained by his seatbelt. Upon contact with Mr. Hayden a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop a baggie of marijuana and a partially burnt marijuana cigar was recovered from the vehicle. Mr. Hayden was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond hearing.

ASSAULT: On Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 5:55 pm, TFC T. Quade responded to a reported disturbance in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Upon arrival contact was made with a female witness who advised an unknown black male assaulted an employee and caused property damage within Jerry's Restaurant. The investigation is continuing.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 3:53 am, TFC M. Moore responded to the Patuxent Inn in the 22000 block of Three Notch Road in California for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant who advised an unknown subject was in Room 128 creating a disturbance. Once inside, Paul Dewayne Dorsey, 27, of Lexington Park had damaged numerous items within the room. He was arrested for malicious destruction of property and taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

STOLEN LICENSE PLATE: On Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 2:25 pm, TFC L. Nims responded to a reported Theft of Motor Vehicle which occurred in the 26000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. The male complainant advised unknown suspect(s) removed his 1985 silver Toyota Corolla with Maryland registration from the residence without his permission. Neighborhood checks have been made and the investigation continues.

DWI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 5:47 pm, TFC T. Quade initiated a traffic stop at Route 235 and Pegg Road in Lexington Park on a red Chevrolet S10 truck for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the 17 year old male juvenile driver, of Lexington Park and a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. During the course of the traffic stop, the male juvenile was placed under arrest for the violation of an alcohol restriction (DWI). A search incident to arrest revealed the male juvenile was also in possession of a CDS smoking device. He was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed and later released to his parents pending further action by Juvenile Services.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, October 19, 2007 at 8:47 am, TFC T. Quade initiated a traffic stop at Pegg Road and Spring Valley Drive in Lexington Park on a green Ford Ranger for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver, Kenneth Cornelius Bowman, 41, of Leonardtown. A MVA check revealed Mr. Bowman's driving privileges were both suspended and revoked. Mr. Bowman was placed under arrest for driving on a suspended and revoked license. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Bowman was also in possession of Cocaine and was charged accordingly. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

TRESPASSING: On Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 1:13 am, TFC M. Moore responded to a reported Burglar Alarm at the Carver Elementary School in Lexington Park. While conducting a building search of the school, Martin Darnell Yates, 18, of Loveville was located in the Control Room of the school. He was arrested for unlawful trespassing and 4th degree burglary. Mr. Yates was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 7:46 pm, Ryan Hamilton Lumpkins, 21, of Piney Point was arrested by Tpr. B. McCartney for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Lumpkins was operating his black GMC Sierra truck on Route 489 when he failed to stop at the intersection and proceeded south on Route 235 when he was stopped. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Lumpkins was found to be in possession of a baggie of marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

DWI, RESISTING ARREST: On Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:02 am, Daniel Brian Pajak, 27, of Lexington Park was arrested by Sgt. R. Redmond for Resisting Arrest. Mr. Pajak was operating a blue Ford Focus south bound Route 235 in the area of Exploration Park Drive in Lexington when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. When contact was made with Pajak, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath. As Mr. Pajak was being arrested for DWI he began to resist. Mr. Pajak was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Monday, October 22, 2007 at 1:36 pm, TFC K. Shughart arrested Richard Paul Dibble, 39 of Lusby for possession of Marijuana, possession of a CDS smoking device and driving on suspended and revoked license. Mr. Dibble was operating a red Dodge truck when he was stopped at Yowaiski Mill Road and Tin Top School Road in Mechanicsville. Contact was made with the driver, Richard Paul Dibble, 39, of Lusby and a MVA check revealed his privilege to drive is suspended and revoked. Mr. Dibble was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 1:20 pm, TFC T. Quade initiated a traffic stop on a white Honda Accord in the parking lot of Millison Plaza in Lexington Park for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Billy Carl Taylor, 48, of Great Mills and the passenger, Robert Stanley Wathen, 44, of Drayden. A MVA check revealed Mr. Taylor's driving privilege in Maryland is suspended and he was arrested. A search of the vehicle incident to arrest revealed Mr. Wathen was in possession of CDS smoking device for which he was issued a Uniform Criminal Citation and was released at the scene. Mr. Taylor was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 5:23 pm, Tpr. C. Evans initiated a traffic stop at Cameron Way and Westbury Blvd. in Lexington Park on a blue Ford Probe. The driver, Ryan Michael Page, 22, of Leonardtown was not restrained by his seatbelt. A MVA check revealed Mr. Page's driving privilege to drive was suspended and he was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed Mr. Page was also in possession of Cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. The passenger, Bellamy Carlos Hinz, 33, of Leonardtown was arrested for possession of Cocaine. Both subjects were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were held pending a bond review.
