LEONARDTOWN, Md. (October 5, 2007) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
SEARCH WARRANT: Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations, with the assistance of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, and the Southern Maryland Information Center Task Force, conducted a search warrant on October 4th at approximately 2:40 p.m., at a residence on Chancellor's Run Road in California, Maryland. The detectives arrested Juan N. Rodriguez, 38 years of age. Rodriguez was charged with Breaking and Entering, Theft and Property Destruction. The arrest was the result of an ongoing BCI investigation into an attempted burglary and four burglaries at the Famous Footwear Store in California, in which shoes valued at over $1500.00 were taken and damage to the store exceeded $2500.00. The incidents occurred over the period of September 12th to September 30th. Rodriguez was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On 10/04/07 Deputy Shawn Moses responded to the area of Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, to assist other deputies investigating disorderly subjects. Once on the scene, the suspect, Dale Allen Smith, 40, no fixed address, began to yell at the officers. DFC Moses ordered Smith to be quiet and leave the area, Smith refused. When DFC Moses attempted to place him under arrest, Smith resisted and a brief struggle ensued. Smith was finally handcuffed and placed under arrest, charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disobeying a Lawful Order and Resisting Arrest. He was transported to Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT ARREST: On 10/04/07 DFC S. Cathcart arrested Hank William Buckler, 37, of Mechanicsville, on a District Court Warrant. The warrant was issued as a result of an investigation conducted by DFC Debra Milam. The suspect was charged with Unauthorized Removal of Property, Theft Less than $100.00., Driving on Suspended and Revoked License, Failure to Report an Accident and Failure to Remain at an Accident. Buckler was transported to the Detention Center pending a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT ARREST: On 10/04/07 DFC Jay Kirkner arrested Travis Nathaniel Nelson 23, of Temple Hills, on a Circuit Court Warrant for Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, and False Statement to Police. He was transported to the Detention Center on No Bond.
WARRANT ARREST: 10/03/07 DFC Milton Pesante arrested Dennis Jevone Furman, 43, of Lexington Park, on a Circuit Court Warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support. He was transported to the Detention Center with a $500.00 purge amount.
WARRANT ARREST: 10/04/07 DFC Keith Moritz arrested Thomas Emanuel Gross, 21, of Great Mills, on a District Court Warrant for Contempt of Court. He was transported to the Detention Center on No Bond.
