MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (October 4, 2007) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Sept. 26, 7:30 PM, TFC Keen observed a vehicle in the middle of Chesapeake Village Blvd., Chesapeake Beach. When TFC Keen contacted the operator, Steven Michael Parr, 47, of Huntingtown, he observed a baggie of suspected marijuana on the center console. Mr. Parr was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Incident to arrest, a search of Mr. Parr’s person and the vehicle produced two additional containers of suspected marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF PERCOCET: On Sept. 28, 5:03 PM, Rt. 2/4, St. Leonard, TFC Keen observed a vehicle veer off the roadway into the median strip. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and continued southbound. TFC Keen stopped the vehicle and made contact with the operator. Upon contact with the operator, TFC Keen observed a white powdery substance on his mustache. TPR Donaldson and DFC Smith, CCSO, arrived on the scene to assist. DFC Smith conducted a K-9 scan of the vehicle, and the dog gave a positive alert for CDS. A search was conducted and five straws containing suspected residue of crushed Percocet were located in the vehicle. A search of the operator produced a bottle containing 3 suspected Percocet. Arrested at that time for possession of Percocet and CDS paraphernalia and removing a required Federal label from a CDS container was James Wilson Smith, 39, of St. Leonard. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: During the overnight hours of Sept. 28, an unknown culprit spraypainted 3 mailboxes, a driveway, a street sign, an electrical box, and playground equipment along Whispering Dr., Prince Frederick. The culprit also burned a trashcan. TFC Murphy is handling the investigation.

THEFT/DOP: During the overnight hours of Sept. 28, an unknown culprit removed a mailbox and spraypainted a bench and 2 lawn ornaments alongside Hillside Rd., St. Leonard. TFC Murphy is handling the investigation.

POSSESSION W/INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE CRACK-COCAINE: On Sept. 29, 4:11 PM, Rt. 2/4, Prince Frederick, TPR Chirichella stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A computer check revealed that the operator, Matthew Aaron Hall, 21, of Columbia, was driving on a suspended license. Assisted by DFC Wilson, a search was conducted. During the search, a bag containing 14 grams of suspected crack-cocaine was located in the vehicle. A search of the passenger, Craig Steven Handley, 21, of St. Leonard, produced a digital scale containing suspected cocaine residue. Both men were then placed under arrest for possession with intent to distribute crack-cocaine. The vehicle, a 1997 Saturn, and $480.00 in currency were seized pending forfeiture procedures. After processing, the two were transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On Sept. 29, 10:04 PM, Rt. 231, Prince Frederick, TPR Chirichella stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The operator, John Wallace, 40, of Ft. Washington, was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search of his person produced a baggie of suspected cocaine. Incident to arrest, two passengers were asked to exit the vehicle. A search was conducted and another baggie of suspected cocaine was located. Arrested at that time was Herbert Gaylor Niles, 43, of Port Republic, and Sherman Sherwood Stewart, 45, of Port Republic. All three were charged with possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, they were transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
