LA PLATA, Md. (October 2, 2007) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT: On Sept. 30 at 10:35 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to residence in the 5800 block of Pine Tree Lane in Hughesville for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed Jeffrey Lamont Stone, 43, of Hughesville assaulted two people with a machete. Cpl. M. Kennedy and Officer E. Webster attempted to detain Stone but he ran toward them and refused to show the officers his hands. Officer Webster deployed his taser to immobilize Stone and arrested him without further incident. Stone was charged with first-degree assault and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries but one was transported to Civista Medical Center for treatment of a laceration.

PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: On Sept. 30 at 9 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers and Maryland State Police troopers responded to the 2800 block of Pinewood Drive in Waldorf for a citizen’s report of a vehicle striking mailboxes. Trooper M. Armstrong located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near Brewster Road. The suspect, a 15-year-old Waldorf boy, exited the vehicle and Trooper Armstrong and Cpl. J. Hopkins stopped and detained him. Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen and while driving it, the boy intentionally struck multiple mailboxes. The boy was charged as a juvenile with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, destruction of property valued at more than $500 and multiple traffic offenses. He was released to his parent. Officer C. Walden investigated.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Sept. 29 at 10:40 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Acton Liquors located at 11870 Acton Lane in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a male suspect armed with a large knife approached an employee in the parking lot and led him inside the liquor store. The suspect demanded money and the employee complied. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers and a K9 team responded but the suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and was wearing a mask and gloves. POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Sept. 29 at 10:34 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officer J. Timko was patrolling the parking lot of Westlake Shell Dash-In located at 2007 Smallwood Drive in Waldorf when he observed a suspicious vehicle occupied by three people. He approached the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, Officer Timko observed a bag of marijuana in plain view. The driver, a 16-year-old Waldorf boy, and both of his passengers exited the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, Officer Timko discovered beer that belonged to the boy and an open container of liquor which investigation revealed belonged to one of the passengers, Melissa Carmen, 19, of Waldorf. The boy was charged as a juvenile with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol. He was released to his parent. Carmen was charged with possession of an open container of alcohol and underage possession of an alcoholic beverage and was released. The third passenger was not charged with any violations.

ROBBERY: On Sept. 28 at 9:38 p.m., a 38-year-old Waldorf man was riding his bicycle in the 3500 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf when he was approached by two male suspects who asked him for a lighter. Another male suspect approached him and struck the victim in the head with a bottle. The suspects took the victim’s gold chain and his wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of money, and fled the scene. One suspect is described as a light-complexioned black male and the second suspect is described as a light-complexioned black or Hispanic male. No description of the third suspect is available. FUGITIVE ARRESTED: On Sept. 28 at 12:33 p.m., the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s Judicial Services Section received an anonymous tip indicating a fugitive, Travis Sinclair Green, 20, of no fixed address was at a residence in Broadbill Circle in Waldorf. Officers responded to the residence and as they approached it, Green fled. The officers apprehended Green and arrested him. Green had three outstanding warrants for violating probation and was also wanted for a burglary that occurred in Hughesville. Detectives are also investigating whether he is responsible for other burglaries in that area. Green was served the four warrants and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Sgt. J. Harmon investigated.
