Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (September 20, 2007) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Sept. 19 at 11:10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a 19-year-old man was walking along Dorchester Circle near Grunion Place in Waldorf when he was approached by two male suspects. One suspect threatened to shoot him and demanded his wallet. The suspect did not display a weapon. When the victim said he did not have a wallet, the suspect searched the victim, hit him in his head and then fled with the other suspect. Officers searched the area but the suspects were not located. Both suspects are possibly in their early 20s and are 5 feet 9 inches or 5 feet 10 inches tall. One suspect is described as a black male wearing a white shirt and jeans. The other suspect is described as a white male with blonde hair and a goatee and was wearing a blue shirt and jeans. ARMED ROBBERY: On Sept. 19 at 10:06 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 4000 block of Bluebird Drive in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a 29-year-old man was walking on Bluebird Drive when three male suspects approached him, brandished a knife and demanded his money. The victim pushed the knife away and fled the scene. The suspects fled in the other direction. Officers searched the area but the suspects were not located. DEADLY WEAPON: On Sept. 19 at 5 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to William B. Wade Elementary School located at 2300 Smallwood Drive in Waldorf for the report of a male juvenile armed with a handgun on the playground. Officers arrived and found a 15-year-old Waldorf boy with a Beretta-style gun in his front waistband. Though it was a BB gun, it strongly resembled a real handgun. The boy was charged as a juvenile with possession of a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a deadly weapon on school property and was released to his parents. Officer J. Long investigated.

BARRICADE: On Sept. 19 at 2:10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 8600 block of King George Court in White Plains. Investigation revealed James McNeil Wilson, III, 42, of Pomfret drove his vehicle through his neighbor’s fence and into their driveway. He then fled into his residence, retrieved a shotgun and fired one shot through a rear glass door. After officers secured the perimeter, they telephoned Wilson and asked him to come outside. Wilson exited his residence unarmed and was arrested without further incident. Officers found Wilson to be intoxicated. He was charged with reckless endangerment, destruction of property valued at more than $500, driving while impaired and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer K. Lerch investigated.
