Calvert County Sheriff's Reports

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (September 18, 2007) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

SERIOUS ACCIDENT: On Saturday, September 15 at 3:16 a.m. a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser operated by Timothy M. Irfan, 28 of Lanham, was traveling northbound on Md. Rt. 4 at Pardoe Road in Lusby when for unknown reasons the vehicle crossed over into the southbound lanes and continued to travel northbound. The vehicle then spun counter clockwise and was struck by a 2007 Dodge Nitro being driven by Mary R. Theesen, 38 of Lusby. Irfan was ejected and was lying in the middle of the southbound lanes of Md. Rt. 4. Both drivers, and a passenger in the Dodge, Sherri M. Fimiani, 23 of Brandywine, were transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Charges against Irfan are pending. The crash is being investigated by Cpl. Anthony C. Moschetto.

PIT BULL ATTACKS: On September 11 at approximately 12:00p.m., a Calvert County school bus driver was attempting to drop off children at the bus stop on 10th Street in Chesapeake Beach when a black and white pit bull dog charged at the children. Another citizen reported the dog charging her as she loaded her child in her car. Animal Control Officer Jim Fisher and Deputy Ricky Cox attempted to apprehend the dog. After moments of chasing the dog through the neighborhood, ACO Fisher located the dog at the 6600 block of Old Bayside Ave. As ACO Fisher attempted to control the animal, the dog became more aggressive and began charging the officer in an effort to do harm. In fear of the dog escaping once again and causing more damage to the public, ACO Fisher had to kill the dog. The owner of the dog was located and charged for the dog running at large.

ROBBERY OF MR. TIRE IN DUNKIRK: On Saturday, September 15 at 6:05 p.m., members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to Mr. Tire, located at 10398 Southern Maryland Blvd. in Dunkirk, for the report of an armed robbery. An employee of the business advised Det. Vladimir Bortchevsky that at about 5:59 p.m. two black males entered the business. One black male was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 150-160 pounds, some facial hair, wearing a navy blue t-shirt, green tie-dyed jean shorts and was in possession of a black revolver type handgun, which he pointed at the employee telling him not to move. The second black male suspect, described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, having patchy facial hair, wearing a black skull cap, white tank t-shirt, and black socks, jumped over the counter and struck the employee in the right eye with his fist, causing a bruise. The employee was ordered to the ground while the first suspect removed money from the register. Both suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction in a silver, older model four-door hatchback passenger vehicle.
