LEONARDTOWN, Md. - Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, announced two administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of September 12, 2007.
The Board appointed Ms. Nicole Connolly to the position of education director at the Chesapeake Public Charter School. She currently serves as a student learning specialist with Calvert County Public Schools. In addition, Ms. Connolly has experience as a Maryland school performance assessment program task leader, Maryland Association of Science and Math Teachers colloquium trainer, talented and gifted curriculum coordinator, and third grade teacher. She has also served as a presenter at the Governor's Academy for Science and Math. Ms. Connolly earned a Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from Loyola College in Baltimore, Md., a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Bowie State University in Bowie, Md., and a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiological sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md.
Mr. Wallace Roberts was named as a supervisor of special education in the Department of Special Education. He too joins the school system from Calvert County Public Schools where he most recently served as a vice principal at Patuxent High School. Mr. Roberts' experience includes serving as a middle school and high school teacher. He earned a Master of Arts degree in school administration and supervision from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, a Master of Education degree in special education from Penn State's Continuing Education program, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech and language arts from Macalester College in St. Paul, Mn.
