MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (September 4, 2007) - Law enforcement officials from the tri-county area used the Labor Day weekend to stage a major St. Mary's County-wide, weekend-long "proactive enforcement initiative." Officers conducted aggressive driving patrols, commercial vehicle inspections, saturation patrols for impaired drivers, narcotics search and seizure warrants, sexual offender checks, a prostitution sting operation, and warrant sweeps for individuals currently wanted for a variety of crimes. More than $15,000.00 worth of crack cocaine, currency, a vehicle, and firearms were seized during the operation, say police.

Law enforcement officers from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Division, Vice Narcotics Division, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division and Special Operations, Maryland State Police (Leonardtown, La Plata and Prince Frederick Barracks and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division), MSP Criminal Intel, MSP K-9, and the Department of Natural Resources Police participated in the operation.

The operation began on Friday, August 31, 2007 with two search and seizure warrants being executed. The following incident and arrest reports are reprinted as reported by police with appropriate edits inserted.

SEARCH AND SEIZURE WARRANT: One warrant was in Park Hall and was served by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team. Anita Monique Plater, 23, of Park Hall, was arrested for Possession of Cocaine. Skylar Anthony Sanders, 24, of Park Hall was arrested for Possession of Cocaine and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.

SEARCH AND SEIZURE WARRANT: The second warrant was in Mechanicsville and was served by the Maryland State Police S.T.A.T.E Team. The following persons were arrested: Pamela Felice Chase, 52, of Loveville for Possession of cocaine and paraphernalia; James Roy Chase Sr., 57, of Loveville for Possession of cocaine and paraphernalia; and James Roy Chase Jr., 20, of Loveville for Possession of Marijuana. Several firearms (handguns and long guns) were seized from both of the homes.

NARCOTICS STING OPERATION: Vice Narcotics Detectives were conducting a sting operation in Lexington Park when an undercover officer was approached by Mark Jerome Mason, 45, of Leonardtown. Mason offered Crack Cocaine to an undercover officer and led him to a nearby neighborhood. Once in the neighborhood Mason exited the vehicle and made contact with a group of individuals. It was then that Wayne Darnell Winters, 35, of Lexington Park produced an aluminum baseball bat and began to threaten the undercover officer. Winters swung the bat at the officer as he sat in a vehicle, causing the driver's side window to shatter. Others officers in the immediate area responded and a short foot chase ensued, leading to the apprehension of Winters.

Mason was apprehended a short time later after he fled. The baseball bat was located in a nearby yard. Mason was charged with Conspiring to Distribute Cocaine and Theft under $100.00. Winters was charged with Assault First and Second Degree, Property Destruction and Resisting Arrest.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: As Officers conducted Crime Prevention Actions on Great Mills Road Suspect Joseph Kenneth Morgan, 44, of No Fixed Address, and Michael Francis Herbert, 58, of Lexington Park, were part of a group that was shouting profanities at Officers. Officers stopped and noted that the disorderly suspects were consuming alcoholic beverages in the front parking lot area of a closed business. Both were arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and consuming alcoholic beverages in an outside, open area.

CDS: Gregory James Ferguson (Age 39 of White Plains, Md.) was arrested for Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. The charges were filed through the Grand Jury of St. Mary’s County.

SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION: Officers conducting a check on Sex Offenders to ensure compliance found that Brent Mitchell Firebaugh (Age 21 of Charlotte Hall) failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office of an address change. He was arrested for the violation.

WARRANT SERVICE: Angela Renee Jordan (Age 45 of Happyland Road in Valley Lee) was arrested for four Counts of Distribution of Cocaine.

WARRANT SERVICE: Craig Andrew Kennedy (Age 43 of California, Md.) was arrested on an open warrant for First Degree Assault.

WARRANT SERVICE: John Edward "Snowman" Nunley (Age 30 of Tall Timbers) was arrested for Possession of Cocaine and Distribution of Cocaine.

SEARCH AND SEIZURE WARRANT: A Search and Seizure Warrant was executed for Narcotics at a residence on St. James Church Road in Lexington Park. Cocaine, Marijuana and a quantity of cash were seized. Arrested was Sarah Rand (Age 25) for Possession of Marijuana and Derrick Clifton Marshall (Age 29) for possession of cocaine. Additional charges are pending against Rand and Marshall after a State's Attorney's Office review. A third suspect will be charged also with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

WARRANT SERVICE: Patricia Ann Adams (Age 49 of Mechanicsville) was arrested on an open Bad Check warrant.

WARRANT SERVICE: Kenneth Lee Childs (Age 38 of Lexington Park) was arrested for Violation of Probation.

WARRANT SERVICE: Devon Antonio Durant (Age 19 of Great Mills) was arrested on a Grand Jury Indictment for Burglary Second Degree.

SEXUAL OFFENSE: Stephen Michael King (Age 38 of Mechanicsville) was charged with arrested for 3rd and 4th Degree Sexual Offenses.

WARRANT SERVICE: Trayvell Vashaun Jones (Age 19 of Lexington Park) was arrested for Break and Entering and Theft.

WARRANT SERVICE: Kimberly Marie (Age 25 of Park Hall) was arrested on an open warrant for Theft under $500.00.

WARRANT SERVICE: John Anthony Supensky (Age 46 of Great Mills) was arrested on an open First Degree Assault Grand Jury Indictment warrant.

CDS: Mary Agnes Morgan (Age 37 of Lexington Park) and a 15 year old juvenile male were arrested for possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

RENTAL AGREMENT VIOLATION: Pamela Ann Kritz (Age 23 of Virginia Beach, Va.) was arrested for operating a rental vehicle in violation of a rental agreement.

WARRANT SERVICE: David Andrew Spears Jr. (Age 19 of Leonardtown) was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Assault Second Degree.

PROSTITUTION STING OPERATION: A prostitution sting operation was conducted in Lexington Park and the following people were arrested for solicitation of prostitution. James Arnold Stewart (Age 18 of Great Mills) Solicitation-Prostitution; James Leo Grinder (Age 23 of Upper Marlboro) Solicitation-Prostitution; Jose Martinez Flores (Age 34 of Great Mills) Solicitation-Prostitution; Jose Madrid (Age 32 of Lexington Park) Solicitation-Prostitution; and Carlos Rolando Morales-Hernandez (Age 28 of Lexington Park) Solicitation-Prostitution. An additional Suspect, Francis Matthew Scriber (Age 40 of Lexington Park) was arrested when he failed to heed warnings to cease hindering the undercover operation.

ATV RAMPAGE: While conducting Community Policing activities in the Country Lakes area an Officer observed an ATV traveling at nearly 80 miles per hour in a posted 25 mile per hour zone. The vehicle fled and was followed into a back yard. The operator, Anthony Aaron Dell Acqua (Age 18 of Mechanicsville) fled into a residence and Officers pursued. The chase when through the residence and the Suspect locked himself into a bedroom, refusing to open the door. The door was forced open and a struggle ensued. Suspect Dell Acqua was charged with Failing to Obey a Lawful Order, Resisting Arrest and numerous traffic violations. One Deputy sustained minor injuries in the alteration but required no medical treatment.

WARRANT SERVICE: Mark Hall Kowertz (Age 37 of Annapolis, Maryland) was arrested for Violation of Probation.

WARRANT SERVICE: George Norman Hill (Age 24 of California) was arrested for Failure to Appear in the District Court for St. Mary's County.

DWI/CDS: Gina Marie Polo (Age 20 of Leonardtown) was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and a search incident to that arrest yielded several controlled substances in the form of pills. The pills included Suboxone and Methadone.

WARRANT SERVICE: Kelly Marie Williams (Age 44 of No Fixed Address) was arrested on an open warrant for numerous traffic violations to include DWI, Fleeing and Eluding and Failure to Stop at accident scene.

CDS: During a vehicle stop for a traffic violation in Charlotte Hall Suspect Robert Earl Thompson (Age 18) was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. His juvenile passenger (Age 17) was arrested for the same offense.

CDS: In the area known as the "T" in Golden Beach, a traffic stop was conducted and a 17 year old juvenile was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

DWI: Andre Charles Hurley (Age 19) was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated when stopped for a traffic violation at Three Notch Road and Pegg's Road.

CDS: William Joseph Morrison (Age 23) was arrested on a vehicle stop that occurred at Three Notch Road and Rue Purchase Road for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

DWI: Ronald Devon Young (Age 34) was arrested after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Three Notch Road in Lexington Park. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

DWI: Anthony Spencer (Age 46) was arrested after he failed the roadside tests pursuant to a vehicle stop on Three Notch Road and Forest Park Drive.

DWI: Owen Alexander Wilkens (Age 27 of Upper Marlboro) was arrested after he was found to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

DWI: Thomas Clifton Robertson (Age 51) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated after he was stopped and failed the roadside test.

DWI: Michael Anthony Young (Age 43) was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after he nearly struck another motorist on Point Lookout Road at Flat Iron Road.
