St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT: On Aug. 30, 2007 Deputy Kristi Nelson and Deputy Todd Fleenor were patrolling the Lexington Park area of St. Mary's County when they observed Walter Jerome Ford (Age 42 of Park Hall) assaulting a male victim. Deputies had to deploy pepper spray to bring Ford under control. Ford was also found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine. Deputy Nelson arrested Ford and charged him with Assault in the Second Degree and Possession of Cocaine.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER: On Aug. 29, 2007 Deputy James Maguire responded to a business in the Leonardtown area of St. Mary's for a reported Violation of a Protective Order. Deputy Maguire's investigation revealed that District Court Judge Robert Riddle had issued an order for Jeffery Allen Wathen (Age 23 of Mechanicsville) to have no contact with his Ex-girlfriend. Wathen violated the court order by contacting the girlfriend and threatening to take her life. Deputies searched for Wathen, locating him on the morning of Aug. 31, 2007. Deputy Maguire arrested Wathen and charged him with Violation of a Protective Order. More charges may follow.
