Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Thomas Rickard, assisted by Dep. James Morgan, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the Thomas Johnson Bridge in Solomons on August 24 at 11:03 p.m. The driver, later identified as Ronald E. Smith, Sr., 38 of White Plains, was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

DOP: A victim on Big Sandy Run in Lusby reported to Dep. Thomas Rickard that unknown suspect(s) had caused approximately $300 in damage by shooting BB's at his house. The damage occurred sometime between August 14 and August 24. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Rickard at 410-535-2800.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Mark Fitzgerald conducted a traffic stop on Md. Rt. 231 near Calvert Fair Drive on August 25 at 6:44 p.m. The driver, later identified as Donald J. Bowen, 24 of Barstow, was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged.

ATTEMPTED THEFT: Unknown juveniles appeared to be attempting to steal a motorcycle from the parking lot of the Walmart store in Dunkirk after the owner had parked it and left the key in the ignition. On August 25 at 4:00 p.m. an unidentified man approached the owner of the vehicle, handed him the key and stated that he had just taken it back from a group of juveniles who had surrounded the motorcycle. When the owner returned to his motorcycle he did not see anyone around it. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC David Gatton at 410-535-2800.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. John Harms conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Md. Rt. 4 and Cove Point Road in Lusby on August 26 at 9:41 p.m. The driver, later identified as Dwayne A. Presgraves, Jr., 28 of Lusby, was found to be driving under the influence and in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, hydrocodone. He was arrested and charged.

ASSAULT: Members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call at the American Legion on Sixes Road in Prince Frederick on August 26 at 1:30 a.m. A disorderly crowd had gathered outside and a fight ensued. Sgt. Brian K. Bowen subsequently arrested Johnson S. Bright, 53 of Port Republic, after he was observed punching another man in the face. He was charged with assault in the second degree.

DOP/DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On August 27 at 4:45 a.m. members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Hollowing Lane in Prince Frederick for a possible burglary in progress. After arriving, Dep. Moises Velasquez determined that a verbal dispute was in progress between the occupants of the home, who were roommates, and several other acquaintances. Dep. Velasquez arrested Christopher D. Wisman, 21 of Broomes Island, and charged him with destruction of property and disorderly conduct after it was determined he had broken a window.

DOP: Dep. Richard Weems responded to a DOP call on Beech Drive in Lusby. The victim reported that on August 23 at about 5:45 a.m. he was parked at the Starbucks in Prince Frederick and when he returned to his car, he noticed a rear flat tire and scratch marks on the side of his vehicle. The damage, estimated at $1,000, may have occurred sometime overnight while the vehicle was parked in on Beech Drive. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Weems at 410-535-2800.

THEFT: A victim on Silverton Court in Chesapeake Beach advised Deputy Brian Wendland that unknown suspect(s) had entered her unlocked vehicle between August 26 and 27 overnight and taken over $200 worth of items. Wendland will continue the investigation.
