Two Arrested for Mechanicsville Bank Robbery

Valeriy V. Kouznetsov, 23, from Rockville, Maryland, and David A. Concepcion, 33, also from Rockville were arrested on Aug. 28, 2007 for the armed robbery of the Mechanicsville Bank of America.

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 29, 2007) - Yesterday saw two more names added to the list of local bank robbers who thought they could get away with it, but ultimately did not. St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) detectives obtained arrest warrants for two Montgomery County men who are now charged with robbing the Mechanicsville Bank of America on Friday, August 17.

Initial reports after the Mechanicsville robbery attributed the incident to a single white male between the age of 18 and 25. At the time police said that the robber left the scene in a green colored four door passenger vehicle at a high rate of speed, almost causing a collision on Route 5 with an innocent motorist.

The men arrested are Valeriy V. Kouznetsov, 23, from Rockville, Maryland, and David A. Concepcion, 33, also from Rockville. The men have been charged with Theft over $500, First Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Armed Robbery, for the armed robbery of the Mechanicsville Bank of America, which occurred on August 17.

The warrants were a result of ongoing investigations by St. Mary's County BCI and Montgomery County Police. Detectives determined that the car used in the Mechanicsville robbery was the same vehicle which was stolen during a carjacking in Montgomery County earlier the same day.

On Monday, August 27, the two men allegedly attempted another bank robbery in Montgomery County using a vehicle that was stolen during a carjacking that occurred on Saturday, August 25. The men were unsuccessful in their robbery attempt and were apprehended by police a short time later.

BCI detectives recovered the vehicle used in the Mechanicsville robbery in Prince Georges County.

The two suspects are currently incarcerated in Montgomery County.
