LA PLATA, Md. - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest report.
On August 20, 2007, at approximately 11:50 a.m., TFC J. Edelen was on routine patrol traveling southbound U.S. Route 301 in the area of Smallwood Drive when he observed a white Lincoln with both occupants not restrained by a seat belt. TFC Edelen initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver and passenger. While speaking with both subjects, they gave indicators of criminal activity. TFC Edelen asked the driver for consent to search his vehicle, and the driver agreed and exited his vehicle. While requesting consent to search, TFC W. Jenkins arrived on the scene to assist. TFC Jenkins asked the passenger to exit the vehicle. As she exited the vehicle, he observed she had a purse in her hand. TFC Jenkins ask the passenger, Cerrina Kamilyia Robinson, 21 years, of Alexandria, Virginia, if she minded if they searched her purse. Robinson threw her purse back in the car and stated Yall can search it. A search of the purse revealed a white medicine bottle containing marijuana. Robinson was placed under arrest and taken to the Charles County Detention Center for processing. She was charged with possession of marijuana.
