Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CDS VIOLATION: On July 31 at 1:00 a.m. Dep. James Morgan assisted Dep. John Harms on a traffic stop at Chisholm Trail in Lusby. Suspected marijuana was located inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as Charles F. Turner, III, 18 of Lusby, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. The front seat passenger, Travis B. Ridgely, 19 of Lusby and a 15-year-old female of Lusby who was in the back seat, were both charged with possession of marijuana. The juvenile was charged on a youth report and released to a parent.

CDS VIOLATION: On August 7 at 4:00 a.m. Dep. Jason Dean and DFC Marty McCarroll were on routine patrol in the area of the Highlands community recreation park on St. Andrews Drive in Chesapeake Beach where they observed a suspicious vehicle. After making contact with the driver, later identified as James G. Cheverton, 20 of Lusby, it was determined that he was in possession of alcohol and suspected marijuana. He was charged on a citation with possession of alcohol under the age of 21 and was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

DOP: Dep. Jason Dean responded to Briscoes Turn Road in Owings for the report of destruction of property. A contractor working in the Timberneck subdivision advised that when he arrived at work at 6:00 a.m. on August 8 he observed flowers and bushes missing from the landscaped area surrounding the subdivision sign. The spotlights had been pulled out of the ground and multiple sprinkler system heads had been destroyed. The owner of the subdivision was contacted and estimated the damage at $6000. Dep. Dean will continue the investigation.

INTOXICATED PERSON: On August 12 at about 8:25 a.m. Dep. James Morgan and DFC Joseph Windsor responded to School Road in Broomes Island for the report of an intoxicated person knocking on doors. They made contact with Kenneth L. Elliott, 38 of Broomes Island, who was exhibiting signs of intoxication, including not being able to stand up straight and slurred speech. Elliott attempted to walk away from the deputies, endangering his own life and that of motorists driving by. He was then arrested and charged with intoxicated endangerment.

THEFT: On August 12 at 11:26 a.m. a victim in front of the Crooked I Bar on Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach reported to Dep. Brian Wendland that she and an employee of the bar observed two unknown suspect(s) enter the victim's vehicle and take items then run up Bayside Road. The victim and the employee chased the suspects, one of whom stopped. Dep. Wendland made contact with the suspect, identified as Timothy W. Downs, 24 of Huntingtown. Downs was in possession of a red Nano I-Pod, valued at $400, belonging to the victim. He was arrested and charged with theft.

DOP: A homeowner on Canyon Trail in Lusby reported to Dep. Mark Robshaw that unknown suspect(s) had thrown eggs at her house and vehicle sometime between 10:00 p.m. on August 11 and 8:00 a.m. on August 12. The damage is valued at $300. Robshaw will continue the investigation.
