St. Mary's BCI Police Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) today released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.

Based on the investigation conducted by BCI into the June 21st burglary at the Sure Shot Paintball Store in Callaway Maryland, the following suspects were identified and arrested on July 11, 2007: Devon Antonio Durant, 19 year old male from Callaway, Md.; Courtney Jevonn Coleman, 18 year old male from Great Mills, Md.; and a 17-year-old male from Callaway, Md.

Charges are pending on two additional juveniles for their involvement in the incident.

Each suspect was charged with one count of Burglary, one count of Theft Over $500.00, one count of Theft Under $500.00, and one count of Property Destruction Under $500.00. The juvenile suspect was released to his parents and the adult suspects were incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On July 11, 2007 at approximately 5:30 pm, police patrol units responded to St. John's Pharmacy located in Hollywood, Maryland for the report of an armed robbery. Detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation.

It was determined that a white male, thin build, approximately 5'10", wearing a bandana over his face, entered the pharmacy which was occupied by customers and employees, displayed a weapon, and demanded money and prescription drugs. The employees complied with the demands and the suspect fled the store with and an undisclosed amount of money and drugs in a tan or beige colored four door car. Detectives from St. Mary's County BCI arrested Alan J. Patke, 41 years of age from Great Mills Maryland on July 8th at 6:45 am and charged him with Sexual Child Abuse, 4th Degree Sexual Offense and Possessing Child Pornography. The arrest was a result of an investigation which determined that Patke had child pornography on his computer and also had inappropriate contact with an underage child. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
