Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Cpl. Thomas Phelps responded to a call for an intoxicated person in the roadway in the 14000 block of Solomons Island Road on Solomons Island July 4 at 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, Cpl. Phelps observed a white male lying in the grass just off the sidewalk. Phelps detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from him. The male, later identified as Kevin D. Hutchings, 46 of Clinton, Missouri, was suffering from injuries to his knees and face. Phelps called for an ambulance and while waiting, Hutchings became disorderly, yelling profanities. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and subsequently transported to the detention center.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: On July 4 at about 8:00 p.m., Dep. Moises Velasquez responded to Parkers Creek Road in Port Republic for a traffic complaint involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival he noticed a red motorcycle traveling west at a high rate of speed. He made contact with the driver, later identified as Delano O. Gray, Jr., 22 of Port Republic. Velasquez discovered that the motorcycle had previously been reported stolen in Pasadena. Gray was arrested for motor vehicle theft and driving while suspended.

THEFT: A victim reported to Dep. David Canning that two cellular phones, a wallet and money were stolen from his unlocked vehicle that had been parked on Erie Avenue in North Beach overnight on July 4th. The stolen items total $390 in value. Dep. Canning is continuing the investigation.

THEFT: Two fifteen-year-old males from Lusby were charged with theft on youth reports after a victim on Rousby Hall Road reported his go-kart and 4-wheeler stolen. The two youths admitted their involvement to Dep. Mark Robshaw after one of them was observed near the stolen items on Barreda Blvd. in Lusby on July 5 at about 5:30 p.m. Robshaw made contact with the other juvenile at his home. The stolen items, totaling $2400 in value, were returned to the property owner. The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.

THEFT: A five gallon gas can filled with gas was stolen from a home on Lower Marlboro Road in Owings on July 6 at 1:00 in the afternoon. Dep. Brianne Gray responded and took a report from the homeowner who advised that the gas can had been in her garage. She heard a vehicle outside of her home and then discovered the can, valued at $15, missing.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Thomas Rickard conducted a traffic stop in the Calvert Village Shopping Center on Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick on July 7 at 5:13 p.m. The driver, later identified as Terence L. Chase, 22 of Huntingtown, was found to be driving on a suspended license. A search of Chase and his vehicle incident to arrest revealed suspected percocet pills, a schedule II drug. He was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of CDS.
