Another Motorcyclist Dies on So. Md. Roads

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 2, 2007) - Another motorcyclist died on southern Maryland roads yesterday. This time, the accident occurred in St. Mary's County and apparently did not involve any other motorists.

On July 1, 2007 at 12:11 p.m., Sylvester Allen Gray, 37 of Lusby, Calvert County, was traveling south-bound on Thompson Corner Road while riding a 2001 Suzuki sport bike. Police say Gray was driving above the posted speed limit. Gray failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, exited the south-bound roadside, and struck and came to rest against a utility pole.

Mr. Gray succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No known witnesses were on the scene.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact SDFC Douglas Mills at 301-475-4200 ext. 1984.
