MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 3:36 pm, TFC Rezza responded to a reported burglary in the 38000 block of East Theresa Court in Mechanicsville. Upon contact with the complainant, he advised unknown suspect(s) pried the rear sliding door open and gained entry in the residence. Nothing appeared to have been taken or disturbed. No further information available at this time, investigation continues.

On Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 5:49 pm, a female complainant responded to the Leonardtown Barrack to report unknown suspect took the rear license plate from her Dodge caravan. She was not able to provide any additional information about the theft. Investigation continues.

On Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 3:39 pm, Tpr. McCartney initiated a traffic stop on a green Honda Civic on Route 247 prior to Route 5 in Loveville for an equipment violation. As the vehicle was coming to a stop, Tpr. McCartney observed the front passenger throw a cocaine smoking device from the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver, Thomas Delano Bush, 60, of Leonardtown. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was then made with the passenger, John Winfield Carter, Sr., 51, of Mechanicsville. Mr. Carter was arrested for possession of CDS. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Carter was also in possession of cocaine. Mr. Carter was transported by Tpr. C. Evans to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review. Mr. Bush was arrested for DUI. A MVA checked revealed Mr. Bush's driving privileges in Maryland are suspended and revoked. A search incident to the arrest also revealed Mr. Bush was in possession of a CDS smoking device with cocaine residue. Mr. Bush was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of CDS paraphernalia, DUI and driving while suspended and revoked. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
