LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
On Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 9:00 am, TFC Nims responded to a reported disturbance in the 20000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Upon arrival contact was made with the complainant who advised a 14 year old juvenile male punch a hole in the wall of a hallway in the Learning Center. The juvenile was charged with malicious destruction of property and released to his parent pending further action by Juvenile Services.
On Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 9:33 pm, TFC Linger initiated a traffic stop on a red Cadillac at Mechanicsville Road and Old Village Road in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. During the course of the traffic stop contact was made with the 16 year old male passenger who was found to be in possession of a cellophane bag of marijuana. The juvenile was transported to Leonardtown Barrack for processing and later released to his father pending further action by Juvenile Services.
On Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 8:51 am, TFC Trossbach responded to McKay's Foodland in Charlotte Hall for a reported theft. Upon arrival contact was made with the complainant who advised Elwood Roy Shanks, 56, of Aquasco was attempting to take groceries from the store without purchasing them. Contact was made with the suspect and he was arrested for theft under $100. The groceries were returned and he was issued a Criminal Citation and released from the scene.
On Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 4:23 pm, Tpr. C. Evans initiated a traffic stop on a white Honda Civic at south bound Route 235 in the area of Joy Lane in Hollywood because the driver was not restrained by his seatbelt. Contact was made with the driver, Donald Lee Pace, Jr., 19, of California and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Pace was found to be in possession of marijuana, five (5) partially burnt marijuana cigarettes, five (5) CDS smoking devices with marijuana residue and other CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Pace was arrested for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
On Friday, May 25, 2007 at 1:16 am, TFC E. Evans initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford F150 truck for exceeding the posted speed limit on Route 4 approaching Route 235 in California. Contact was made with the driver, Robert Wade Norwood, Jr., 25, of Lexington Park and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Norwood was arrested for DUI. A stolen check on the license plates revealed the license plates were reported stolen to St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Norwood was arrested for Theft under $100 and DUI/DWI and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
