Second Motorcyclist In One Week Dies on Calvert Roads

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - On Saturday, May 12 at 9:54 p.m., a motorcyclist, traveling westbound on Dalrymple Road near Hardesty Road in Sunderland, crossed the double yellow lines and struck two eastbound vehicles. After striking the first vehicle, the motorcycle, a 2005 Kawasaki ZX10R, continued westbound, striking the second vehicle.

Travon L. Holloway, 19, of Huntingtown, was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead on the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating.

Holloway is the second motorcyclist to die in Calvert County in the past week. On Tuesday, May 8. A vehicle, operated by John Patrick Maloney, 30, of Huntingtown, went out of control and struck a Harley Davidson head-on. The motorcyclist, Harold L. Jerew, 47, of St. Leonard, passed away shortly thereafter at a local hospital. Police say Maloney failed standardized field sobriety tests and was determined to be impaired by either drugs and/or alcohol. (See Impaired Driver Takes Life of Harley Rider in Calvert)
