Huntingtown Woman Killed When Her Car Struck by Tractor-Trailer


HUNTINGTOWN, Md. - A 39 year-old Huntingtown woman was killed on Thursday, April 26 when she was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer on Solomons Island Road in front of Huntingtown High School.

On Thursday, April 26 at 12:12 p.m. a 1994 Peter Built tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on Solomons Island Road approaching the traffic light in front of Huntingtown High School. A 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck were stopped for the red light. The two vehicles had just begun to accelerate for the green light when the tractor trailer failed to stop and struck the PT Cruiser from behind, pushing it into the Ford pickup truck.

The driver of the PT Cruiser, Mary Frances Bock, 39, of Huntingtown, was taken by Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, Company 6 ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, David S. Smith, 42, of Rising Sun, and the driver of the pickup truck, Ale Jandro G. Jarkin, 35, of Lusby, did not suffer any injuries.

The tractor trailer and the PT Cruiser were both towed Chip's Towing to their lot in Huntingtown.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Calvert Investigative Team. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Det./Sgt. Michael Moore of C.I.T. at 410-535-2800 ext. 2454.
