LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARMED CAR-JACKING: On April 26 at 11:21 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of an armed car-jacking that occurred in the parking lot of St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf about 10:25 a.m. Investigation revealed the victim, a 39-year-old Prince Frederick man, was approached by a male suspect who brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala sedan with Washington, D.C., tags R23504. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene in the vehicle, heading north on Crain Highway. The suspect is described as a black male and is between 18 and 22 years old. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and has dreadlocks. The vehicle is an Enterprise rental car. ARMED ROBBERY: On April 26 at 1:05 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 4000 block of Night Heron Court in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed the victim, a 21-year-old Waldorf woman, was approached by a male suspect as she exited her vehicle. The suspect grabbed her arm and then her purse. She struggled with him until he threatened to shoot her. The suspect grabbed her purse and fled the scene. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a white male and is approximately 25 years old. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall and was wearing blue jeans and a dark, long-sleeved polo shirt. The Suspect did not display a gun but implied he had one. POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA/COCAINE: On April 25 at 1 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officer J. Timko responded to a playground in the 4500 block of Grouse Place in Waldorf for a citizen’s report of loitering. Upon arrival, Officer Timko observed five people run from him. He exited his cruiser, detected the smell of burnt marijuana, pursued the group and saw them enter a Chevrolet Cavalier. He ordered them to stop and observed one of the passengers exit the vehicle. He ordered the passenger back into the vehicle and the passenger eventually complied. Officer Timko then observed a plastic bag underneath the car where the passenger had been standing. Officer E. Webster arrived on the scene to assist. While Officer Webster searched the playground, Officer Timko determined the bag underneath the car contained marijuana. Officer Webster located another bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the playground. The five people in the car were subsequently arrested for drug possession. Further investigation revealed an occupant of the vehicle, Kedar Hasmell Reid, 27, of Waldorf, was wanted for failing to appear in court for a previous drug charge. A subsequent search of Reid revealed he was in possession of additional marijuana. Officer Timko also found approximately $250 worth of cocaine inside a keychain attached to the driver’s keys. All five occupants of the vehicle, John Russell Collett, 19, of Crofton, Warren Rochester Smith, 18, of Waldorf, Joshua Lamont Venson, 18, of Waldorf, Bryan Keith Francis, 18, of McKeesport, Pa. and Reid were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The street value of the marijuana was about $55. Venson, the driver of the vehicle, was also charged with possession of cocaine. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
