3,000 So. Marylanders Still Without Power, Says SMECO

HUGHESVILLE, Md. - The Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) reported today that as of 8 a.m., they are still working to restore power to nearly 3,000 customers.

The storm system that swept through the Midwest and into the mid-Atlantic and New England areas left thousands without power as rain and high winds brought down trees and power lines.

Damage from the storm caused scattered outages throughout SMECO's service area. More than 500 outage incidents are currently identified as being in need of repair. SMECO says they have over 40 crews working in the service area, and they expect to have power restored by late afternoon or late this evening.

To report outages and downed power lines, customers should call 1-888-440-3311 or 1-877-747-6326.
